INDUSTRIAL PROCESS CLEANING SPECIALISTS SEPTEMBER 2017
A mark of a good company is one that takes an interest in solving a clients problem and committing 100% until the problem is solved and that is exactly what Pipetech did. Fluor Process Director
Cleaner. Faster. Smarter. We service a range of industries from oil and gas exploration and production, to onshore industrial services including refineries and power stations. OFFSHORE SERVICES Topsides / MODUs / Subsea / Vessels / Wells INDUSTRIAL SERVICES Power Stations / Refineries / Petrochemicals
Offshore Services By listening to our customers and learning we have strengthened our offering to create and deliver the best cleaning solutions in the industry. 20 Yrs 500 50 + 98 We have been solving costly flow and blockage problems for almost 20years We have delivered over 500 successful engineered cleaning solutions Performed successful cleaning on over 50 offshore installations 98 different types of offshore systems cleaned TOPSIDES & WELLS MODU VESSELS SUBSEA
Subsea Solution Background In May 2016 we were using a range of topside cleaning services on an fpv in the Norwegian Sector if the North Sea. The operator approached us and asked if we had considered taking our methods into the subsea environment as they had a blockage on a subsea manifold below the platform. We accepted the challenge a set about designing a new system.
DWCS The Development Problem Identified Operator advised that they had a scale blockage in a subsea water injection manifold 380m beneath the platfrom April 2016 Pipetech were engaged in cleaning topside process systems on the fpv for the Operator and asked to help. July 2016- DWCS Deployed The system was deployed and successfully removed a barium sulphate blockage from the Subsea manifold in 1.5 shifts. Failed Attempts Over several months, attempts where made to clear the blockage with chemicals runs and pigging attempts. These method had failed to clear the blockage and the Operator was preparing to shut down the field and pull the manifold. DWCS development We took our experience in cleaning pipeline and process system blockages with high pressure water and designed a subsea deployable solution. Go Ahead The Operator liked the design and gave the go ahead to build. Pipetech completed the design, tests and fabricated within a short timeline DWCS was born.
The DWCS Subsea Deployed Pipeline and Process System Cleaning Topside HPU, providing 1000bar 200 ltr PER min high pressure water, ATEX Zone 2 Hose reel incl Hydraulic Power Unit Workshop container for accessories Subsea Deep Water Cleaning System Customized entry flange ROV operated Subsea Dredge Design The DWCS frame is designed according to DNV 2.7-3, TR1231 and DNV-RP-H103. A single point with a 12t shackle allowing for deployment from moonpool or deck.
DWCS - Learning The fpv project was a success in terms of clearing the blockage in the manifold however, there were many lessons for us: We experienced cavitation inside the manifold leading to abnormal wear of the cleaning nozzle jets. We had issues with hose tension and distance monitoring when inside the manifold. Utilising hydraulic power from the ROV was not ideal.
DWCS The Evolution Learning NCS project was a success with significant learning. Nozzle We worked with a trusted engineering house to develop a new an unique nozzle and jets for working in subsea systems. In partnership We are now looking at a number of issues on behalf of our clients. Pipelines, manifold and tree blockages in several locations across the world. We are working with pipeline and hot tap engineers. Looking forward We are also in discussion with vessel providers and production chemists to evaluate a even wider offering to the market. Back to drawing board Complete system review addressing the project learning and improvements. Tension and Distance We have the designs for a new Hose Control Module, an internal subsea HPU and a new Tool Control Unit acting as the brain for the new systems. A new Topside Control interface for more operator data and enhanced control. TechnipFMC In July 2017 we were asked by a leading SURF contractor to assist on a project West of Shetland. DWCS was mobilised to remove blockages from a subsea pipeline.
DWCS New Project In July 2017 we assisted a leading SURF contractor in the removal of blockages from a pipeline West of Shetland. Rapid mobilsation of DCWS and people to support the project. Successful SIT in Lerwick. DWCS run offshore from Far Superior.
DWCS - Improvements Pipetech have applied to OGTC for funding for these improvement are currently awaiting final decision. Initial feedback is good and the TRL level is high. Ongoing discussion with OGTC as to where the solution fits in their funding pools. We continue to develop our plans and have been approached by interested industrial parties to fund the development and partner with us.
DWCS In Summary Subsea Pipeline, Manifold and Tree cleaning: A unique patented solution Deployment from vessel, rig or platform. Can remove any debris from wax to the toughest scale. Typical subsea applications: Pipeline wax, scale and pig removal Manifold cleaning wax and scale Tree cleaning wax and scale Projects: 2 projects completed to date (pipeline and manifold) Currently looking at a range of issues for subsea clients Looking to progress with the improvements to the system.
