All entries must be the work of the exhibitor. All entries must have been completed between September, 2016 and September, 2017 and must not have won a ribbon in any past Mountain State Fair. Only three carvings can be entered in each class per carver, although no carver can win more than two premiums in any one individual class. No kits or duplicator pieces (intarsia, marquetry, puzzles) will be accepted. Carvings from roughouts are permitted; no scroll saw works will be admitted. All entries must be hand carved. Power carvers and dremel type rotary tools may be used. All carvings must be of wood. The use of molded feet of wire & putty, and glass eyes is permitted. The use of plastic or molded metallic or any other commercially manufactured parts is not permitted. Group carvings - that is, 2 or more pieces mounted on the same base, or as a group not mounted, will be judged as a single carving. The Mountain State Fair reserves the right to add, delete, or combine categories and/or classes. The Mountain State Fair reserves the right to refuse carvings that it considers not in good taste (i.e., nude figures, hand gestures or illegal controlled substances). If an entry is misrepresented or the exhibitor misrepresents his/her status, the entry will be disqualified. Any metal supports such as screw, wire and rods should not be visible.
