Creative Writing Camp In partnership with Rice University s School Literacy and Culture, WITS offers the acclaimed Creative Writing Camp at six Houston campuses for students entering K-12 grades in fall 2018. Creative Writing Camp pairs talented, professional authors with experienced classroom teachers for a high-quality summer program that feeds the imagination. Camp WITS In partnership with the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, WITS provides camps helping 1st through 5th grade students develop strong writing skills. At Camp WITS, students spend the morning taking part in hands-on activities that garner an understanding and command of writing, utilizing engaging exercises and lessons. Students pass the afternoon with fun summer camp activities. At the end of camp, students leave with an anthology of short stories and poems. Heart of the Summer In partnership with Duchesne Academy's Heart of the Summer Program, WITS offers creative writing summer sessions in June and July for 1st-8th grade boys and girls. The workshops end with culminating events and published anthologies. Non-Duchesne families are welcome to attend. Two-week program; 30 hours of instruction $425 per student Through grade-level appropriate activities such as writing stories, poetry, essays, and plays, children develop new skills, stretch their creativity, and enjoy inspiration and mentoring from professional writers. ExploreAsia: Culture Camp for Kids If you turned your favorite story into a video game, what would it look like? In this design camp, you ll use Gamestar Mechanic to bring your stories and poems to life. Dive into stories and artwork from India, China, and Japan, and discover how to weave stories like a pro! After demonstrating video game story-telling, WITS Professional writers will guide you in creating your own work. At the end-of-camp celebration, everyone will debut their projects. WITS Writing & Art Camp at Presbyterian School Are you a writer who is inspired by images? A visual artist who can t get enough of words? At this camp, you will work with professional writers and artists to create writing and art projects, such as designing photo-booth narratives, carving poems, dabbling in the world of zines, or composing inside a shadow box. You will also get to explore inspiring spaces like the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Glassell School, or the Contemporary Arts Museum. At the end of camp, you'll invite your family to a celebration where you'll get to display your polished piece of writing and art in a gallery exhibition of your work.
