Our initial focus areas include diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, pelvic region and kidneys, as well as obesity and preventable complications. We set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). We optimize patient outcomes by creating innovative surgical products and services. We currently focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region and the head and neck. Our broad portfolio of solutions spans the continuum of care to support minimally-invasive treatment by reducing complications to accelerate patient recovery. We focus on improving outcomes associated with respiratory compromise, deep vein thrombosis, healthcare acquired infection, nutritional insufficiency and renal failure. 2 Usage Guidelines
Group Name Change Timing The transitional name, Covidien Group, should no longer be used. All communications must be converted to the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group name going forward. Please see the following guidelines for details, available templates and examples of correct name usage. DISCONTINUE USE ALL MATERIALS SHOULD BE CONVERTED GOING FORWARD. Using The Group Name Internally And Externally The name will be used internally to communicate with employees and to identify the business relative to the other Medtronic businesses. It can also be used externally in reporting to the Investor Community as one of the 4 Medtronic businesses, or in company overview presentations. Medtronic does not promote its business groups as organizations. The Group name should not be used in external communications, particularly customerfacing materials that promote products, services and offerings. If it is necessary to identify the business focus, Minimally Invasive Therapies may be used. Group must be never be included. *NOTE: When referencing leadership or employees externally, you may use Minimally Invasive Therapies Group to identify their business. This is acceptable for press releases, business cards and stationery. Treatments to Avoid Medtronic Minimally Invasive Therapies is not a brand and should not be promoted as an entity. As such, it is not appropriate to attach the group name, business unit names or product names to the Medtronic logo. In addition, the Covidien logo should never be used with the new group name. The group name should not be stylized with different treatments, nor should unapproved fonts or colors be used. Logos or icons should not be added to the group name and the acronym MIT should never be used. Do not use the Covidien logo with the new group name. Business Card Guidance Medtronic does not use group names on all cards. It is recommended that business cards use a maximum of two business identifiers (i.e. Division and Business Unit) because space is limited. Employees should use their business unit names instead of the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group name. Functional groups and group leadership that are not part of a specific business unit should use the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group name on business cards and stationery. Internal Promotional Materials Items with the Medtronic identity are frequently used as gifts or awards for our employees. Promotional items must display the Medtronic logo correctly and prominently to reinforce our Masterbrand strategy and demonstrate our pride in the Medtronic name. The primary goal is to promote Medtronic not the group, however, group names may be used when there is more than one imprint area and the group name can be positioned separately from the Medtronic logo. It should never be used externally on customer-facing promotional items, particularly at conventions or events. Convention Guidance The primary exhibit identity should always be Medtronic. Secondary zone ID headers may use internal business names if they happen to be a generic disease condition and a term the customer easily understands for wayfinding.
