THE RUINS OF ELIXIA 11TH 12TH JUNE 2016

THE BRAZEN CALL OF BATTLE Dawn was breaking purest gold across the mountainous lands of Anvrok in the Realm of Chamon. Once it had been a great valley kingdom, nestled between the Bright Tor Mountains and the steep cliff faces of the towering Vaulten range. Now, Anvrok was little more than ruins, it s proud cities destroyed and it s peoples reduced to nomadic tribes or worse. Standing as a haunting reminder to the dominion of the Chaos Gods, Elixia, The Shattered City, lies at the foot of The Eldritch Fortress. It is here that the forces of Ephryx, the Ninth Disciple of Tzeentch hold out, guarding the entrance to the Silverway, the Silverway, a mighty duardin-built bridge of quicksilver which, legends say, connect to a Realmgate which can take a traveller to any one of the Eight Realms. But the forces of Sigmar and his allies will not stand quiet, allowing Chaos to hold dominion here any longer. The City of Elixia must be purged. March now with your closest ally to the Ruins of Elixia to ensure victory for your chosen Lord and Master. The fighting will be desperate and bloody in the former noble city where it will take all of your guile and cunning to survive... Welcome to the Doubles Weekend: a gaming event all about fun, friendly battles in a relaxed atmosphere, where you play as part of a team of two. You ll get to play some great games against other like-minded players in the unique atmosphere of the spectacular Warhammer World Event Hall. No matter whether you re a seasoned player or if this will be your first step into playing our games, the focus for this event is on camaraderie and playing in the spirit of the game; that is to say non-competitive and fair play are the order of the day. EVENT ESSENTIALS Date: 11th 12th June 2016 Venue: Warhammer World, Nottingham Times: Saturday 9:00am 7:00pm, Sunday 9:00am 5:00pm (more detailed Schedule later) Number of games: 6 Team Size: 2 players per team Army Size: Each player: 15 models (30 models per team. PLAYING IN A TEAM This event is a Doubles Weekend, and, as the name suggests, you play as part of a team of two! This is a great chance to spend the weekend gaming alongside your closest ally or gaming club mate, or even to introduce someone new to the hobby! A single ticket covers the entrance to the event for both members of a team. Grab your gaming partner now, and start planning your forces! YOUR MINIATURES All miniatures in your collection must be Games Workshop Miniatures and be fully assembled, painted and based. Each model must represent, in full, what is presented on its Warscroll. We will ask you during registration if you have any unpainted or unbased models left to finish. If you do, show us and we will tell you what needs to be done in order to make the models up to standard for the event. Then we will do our best to give you the time and space to get your models finished. If you aren t sure what you need to do, give us a call on 0115 900 4994 and we will happily talk you through what we look for.

REGISTRATION When you arrive at Warhammer World on Saturday morning, you will need to register with the Events Team at the front of the gaming hall. All we will need is your name and a visible copy of your Ticketbud ticket email, (whether it is printed out or displayed on a phone or tablet), and team name for your team! We will give you a record card and a name badge keep hold of these over the weekend. It s also a great chance to ask us any questions you might have about the weekend; we re happy to have a chat about anything you may need to know. THE LEGION MARCHES FORTH Why not bring your whole collection to the event? While your team can only use a maximum of 30 models per game, they don t have to be the same models in every game! Use the Meet your opponent and discuss forces in use time to decide which models from your collection you are going to use in that game. Before each game, have a chat with your team mate and your opponents and decide what you are going to use in that game. Follow these guidelines to assemble your force for the game: You may bring as many models as you like: Each player in a team selects up to 15 models of their choice for each game. That means, combined, each team has no more than 30 models in use for that game. Each player must include at least one Hero. Before each game, nominate one hero from either player s force to be the team s general for that game. For any unit with the key word War Machine, count the machine and each separate crew member miniature as separate models. For example, a Cannon and three crew count as four models. Before each game, you ll need to add up the Wounds characteristics of all the models your team has chosen to use for that battle. This number represents your Martial Strength for that battle. Check the Ruins of Elixia Battleplan later on to see the effects this have in your games. THE RULE OF COMMON SENSE You ll notice there is a 15 minute period before each game to Meet your opponents and discuss forces in use. While there are some guidelines in place, as seen in the Mustering Your Forces section, we do expect you to treat each other with mutual respect and let common sense win through when it comes to determining what models are used. Having a conversation before the game is the best way to ensure this. The guidelines above are based around an average army of models. However, of course, the number of models you will want to use may vary; if you take particularly powerful models such as Skarbrand or Nagash, you ll probably want to use fewer models. Equally, if your army is made up of Grots or Skaven, you might want to ask your opponents if you can take more. Why not theme your army around a warscroll battalion? If the battle is going very one-way early on, why not add more miniatures in to make the game closer and last longer? There really is no hard and fast rule, other than to make sure all four of you have a good time. GAMES Over the course of the weekend, you ll play six games against randomly determined opponents, each game being one and a half hours long. We will be using the The Ruins of Elixia battleplan included at the end of this pack in each game, rolling randomly on the Laurel of Victory Table to see what objective you are trying to complete. Once an objective has been played, we will cross it off the list and we will not play it again. You will need to note the results of your games on special record cards, handed to you when you register. MUSTERING YOUR FORCES In order to attend the Doubles Weekend, you ll need to bring with you a collection of painted miniatures and all of the Warscrolls you need to use them in the game. You may bring as many miniatures as you like to the event; why not bring your whole collection!

FIGHTING IN THE CITY OF ELIXIA This weekend sees your armies march on the ruins of Elixia, the shattered city. Expect the boards to have a lot of terrain on them, representing the streets, forums, and buildings of a once noble city! GOT A GRUDGE? We know there might be a few old gaming grudges you need settling, so over lunch on Sunday time, we will be taking any requests for certain opponents. We will need members from both teams to approach the Events Team over lunch, request the match-up and we will sort it for Game 6! SCORING During your games, you will be trying to score Laurels of Victory as you complete various objectives. At the end of the game, note down how many Laurels of Victory you scored in that game on your record card. At the end of the event, add up how many Laurels of Victory you have scored in total and hand in your completed record card to the events team. FAVOURITE GAME VOTES At the end of the event, we will ask each of you to secretly note down one of the other teams that you most enjoyed playing against, for whatever reason you see fit. Perhaps they were great fun to play against, perhaps their army was beautiful, maybe it was a hard fought and close game; whatever the reason you chose, show your appreciation by filling in your Favourite Game Vote. Each player has a vote, and you may choose to both vote for different opponents if you so wish. VINDICATION SCORE At the end of the event, we will calculate your Vindication Score by multiplying your Favourite Game Votes received by your Laurels of Victory. For example, if your team earns 3 Favourite Game Votes and scores 45 Laurels of Victory, your Vindication Score will be 135 (3 x 45). WINNING THE DOUBLES WEEKEND Winning a prize at one of our events is a rare honour indeed for any hobbyist, and rightly so. The trophy and the title of Champions will go to the team who earns the most Favourite Game votes from their opponents. If there is a tie, we will look at how many Laurels of Victory you score over the weekend as a second sorter. Remember, actually winning your games isn t the most important thing at a Doubles Weekend - it s all about those Favourite Game votes! THE BEST ARMY COMPETITION It is the dream of many painters to lift a Best Army trophy at one of our events, so we thought we would give you the chance too. During the first games, Events Team will circle the hall and select a number of teams who s armies we think are worthy for nomination for Best Army. Then, over Sunday lunch time, we will give you all the chance to vote for which one of these armies you think is the best. The team which earns the most votes will win the Best Army prize at the Award Ceremony. LEGENDS PAINTING COMPETITIONS Legends gives you the chance to show off your skills with single models and units rather than with whole armies. Simply enter the relevant category when it s open; once all the entries are in, we will ask all the players to vote for their favourites. The player that earns the most votes in each category will earn the relevant award at the Award Ceremony. Both players can each enter each category, so a bit of friendly rivalry is the order of the day here! Hero of Legend: For single models on foot, or mounted on a roughly horse-sized mount i.e. Nothing bigger than Juggernauts and Mournfang mounts here). Beast of Legend: All types of Monsters, and heroes mounted on huge monstrous mounts, (e.g.azhag the Slaughterer) Engine of Legend: All Artillery, War Machines, and mechanical engines of war (e.g. Steam Tanks, Gyrocopters, etc) Company of Legend: Any unit of 10 or less models on foot, 5 or less models on horse-sized mounts or 3 or less models on monstrous mounts (e.g. Rot-flies or Demigryphs). THE AWARD CEREMONY At the end of the day, we will take the time to recognise the achievements of some of the players with these awards: Legends Competition Winners for the players who win the Legends Painting Competitions. Best Nominations for all the teams who earned a nomination for the Best Army competition. Best Army for the team whose army earned the most votes for Best Army The Champions for the player who earned the most Favourite Game votes The City Wardens for the team with the highest Vindication Score. If the team who earns this also wins The Champions prize, this award will go to the team with the second highest Vindication Score. BATTLEPLAN THE RUINS OF ELIXIA

HOW TO USE THIS BATTLEPLAN This battleplan enables you to fight an exciting battle as part of The Ruins of Elixia event at Warhammer World. Each game should last about an hour and a half. It should be fought using all of the rules on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar rules sheet unless specifically indicated otherwise. THE ARMIES In order to play, you and your team mate must first muster an army from the miniatures in your collection. You will have fifteen minutes before the game to chat to your opponents and decide what models will be in use. Make sure you both have enough models to ensure an exciting game for the full hour and a half. Each player in a team can include up to fifteen models in their force, meaning a team of two players has no more than thirty models. Each player must take at least one Hero, but otherwise, you can use any models from your collection. Before the game begins, pick one Hero from the team s combined army to be the general. Your team can add up to fifteen additional models in total to your combined army throughout the game (for example, through summoning, reincarnation and so on) provided the models in your army have the ability to do so. GENERALS OBJECTIVES The time has come to fight for the City of Elixia. Ruined though it is, The Shattered City is still an important land mark in the Realm of Chamon, providing the perfect base for a siege on The Eldritch Fortress. All that stands between you and ultimate glory is an enemy army bent upon your destruction and taking the city for themselves. If possible, you must achieve total command of the battlefield by wiping out the enemy. However, there are many other paths to victory that remain shrouded in mystery; only when battle is joined and the fog of war lifts will such paths be revealed. The battlefield may hold sites of strategic import that must be secured at all costs, or enemy champions may be present whose deaths will break your foe s morale. Therefore, be wise when marshalling your forces and be prepared to adapt your plans. Know also that the gods look favourably upon those who show courage by facing superior foes after all, the greater the challenge, the greater the glory. A cunning general can earn many honours by facing overwhelming odds, and secure victory even in the face of mounting casualties. THE BATTLEFIELD The scenery on your table will be predetermined by the Events Team. Players should feel free to move it around before rolling for set-up should they wish. SET-UP Before setting up their armies, both players roll a dice, rolling again in case of a tie. The player that rolls higher must divide the battlefield into two equal-sized halves, as shown on the deployment map, and pick one half to be their territory. The other half is the opposing player s territory. The players then alternate setting up units, one at a time, starting with the player that won the previous dice roll. Models must be set up in their own territory, no more than 12" from your own battlefield edge. Both sides must set up at least one Hero to be their general. Continue setting up units until both sides have set up their army. Count the number of models set up in each army this may be useful later. Also, determine each army s Martial Strength by adding together the Wounds characteristics of all the models set up in that army; whichever player has the lowest Martial Strength is the Underdog. If both players have the same Martial Strength, the player who lost the dice roll to choose their territory is the Underdog. FIRST TURN If one player finished setting up their army before their opponent, they always choose who takes the first turn in the first battle round. LAURELS OF VICTORY Laurels of Victory are awarded throughout the battle for slaying enemy forces, accomplishing heroic deeds, capturing enemy territory or by pleasing the capricious desires of the gods. Just before the timer for the game begins, the Events Team will roll two D3 and consult the table shown overleaf to determine how Laurels of Victory are gained by both players during the battle. As such, everyone at the event will be trying to achieve the same Victory Condition in each battle. CONTROLLING TERRAIN Sometimes, a Victory Condition will instruct players to control one or more terrain features. A player controls a terrain feature if there are more models from their army within 3" of it than there are enemy models. 2

LAURELS OF VICTORY TABLE Roll Victory Condition 11 Capture Ground: After set-up, you and your opponent each select one terrain feature. At the end of each battle round, players gain 1 Laurel of Victory for each of these two features that they control. 12 Corpses not Captives: Players gain 1 Laurel of Victory each time an enemy unit is wiped out. 13 The Eldritch Fortress: At the end of each battle round, players gain 1 Laurel of Victory if at least 5 of their models are in enemy territory. In addition, at the end of each battle round, each player gains 1 Laurel of Victory if there are less than 5 enemy models in their territory. 21 Cut off the Head: Players gain 1 Laurel of Victory each time a leader of an enemy unit is slain (or flees), and 2 Laurels of Victory each time an enemy Hero is slain (gain 3 instead if the enemy general is slain). 22 Hold the City: At the end of each battle round, the player who controls the terrain feature closest to the centre of the battlefield gains 1 Laurel of Victory. In addition, at the end of each battle round, each player gains 1 Laurel of Victory if their general is within 3" of the centremost terrain feature. 23 Despair and Slaughter: Keep track of how many enemy models are slain (or flee) during each battle round. At the end of each battle round, the player that inflicted the most casualties upon the enemy army during that battle round gains 2 Laurels of Victory. 31 Raze and Ruin: The Break Through and Corpses not Captives Victory Conditions both apply. 32 Honour and Glory: The Hold the Centre and Cut off the Head Victory Conditions both apply. 33 Seek and Destroy: The Capture Ground and Despair and Slaughter Victory Conditions both apply. Your Battlefield Edge Your Territory Enemy Territory Enemy Battlefield Edge 3

Celestial Bright Tor Gate Celestial Celestial Battle at the Silverway The Silverway Celestial Celestial The Eldritch Fortress The Bleak Horde The Void Silver River Ruins of Elixia, the Shattered City The attack of the Celestial against the Silverway would see Elixia bear the brunt of the fighting. FATE FAVOURS THE BRAVE If the Underdog is facing an army whose Martial Strength exceeds their own by at least 10, they can earn bonus Laurels of Victory by achieving any of the deeds listed opposite. Each deed can only be achieved by the Underdog once during the battle. The number of bonus Laurels of Victory earned for achieving each of these deeds depends on the difference between the two armies, as shown below. Difference in Martial Strength Laurels of Victory earned for each deed achieved 0-9 0 10-19 1 20-39 2 40-79 3 80 or more 4 UNDERDOG DEEDS While We Live, We Fight: You achieve this deed if at least one of your models is alive and within 1" of a building at the end of the fourth battle round. Lead by Example: You achieve this deed once your general has slain one enemy Hero, one enemy Monster, or 5 other enemy models. The Bastion: After set-up, your opponent must select on building on the battlefield; that building represents a stongpoint in Elixia which must be held. You achieve this deed if, at the end of the fourth battle round, there are no enemy models within 1" of it. Kingslayer: You achieve this deed if the enemy general is slain. Claim the City: You achieve this deed if, at the end of the fourth battle round, you control at least three of the buildings on the table VICTORY Do not use any of the victory conditions on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar rules sheet. Instead, the battle lasts for four battle rounds, or for one and a half hours (whichever comes first). If the timer ends in the middle of a battle round, ensure that both players have had the same number of turns before ending the battle. If one player has no models left on the battlefield, the battle immediately ends and the opposing player gains 5 Laurels of Victory. At the end of the battle, the player who has the most Laurels of Victory claims a major victory. If both players have the same number of Laurels of Victory, the Underdog claims a minor victory. 4
