33RD ANNUAL STORRS ALL HIGH PHOTO SHOW EXHIBITION DATES: April 22-May 11, 2018 APPLICATION DEADLINE March 30, 2018 ALL WORK DELIVERED BY April 16, 2018 The 33RD ANNUAL STORRS ALL HIGH PHOTO SHOW is open to students in grades 9-12 in public and private schools in New York State. Photos may be submitted by photography students, a photography club or individual students who do not have access to in-school darkroom facilities, but ALL photos must be submitted through a teacher. Photographs may be shot with 35mm or digital, but processing must be indicated on the photo labels provided and Gallery Label Form. Processing is either darkroom printed or non-darkroom meaning that the student s film/ images as well as prints were not produced in a darkroom. Non-darkroom processing includes computer imaging equipment and printers, and commercial photo printers. In 2005, artist and former art teacher, William Storrs passed away. Bill was devoted to bringing visual arts programming to the Kenan Center and helped to create the first All High Photo Show. In his memory, the Kenan Center renamed the Photo Show the Storrs All High Photo Show. STUDENT STATEMENTS & IMAGES In 2009, we began requesting that students provide a very brief statement about their photograph which becomes part of the gallery record. While this is optional, it adds a very special element to the show. Teachers are welcome, as well, to provide a statement about the students work as a whole. Please have each student prepare a short 1-2 sentence reflection/explanation of their photo. For expediency, please type out all statements, with the students names, on a one page Word doc and email to Alyssa Mays at alyssamays@kenancenter.org. Please remember to include the school name and your name so we can match up the statements with the school. Please send statements no later than April 16. PROMOTIONAL IMAGES: We like to use students images for our marketing of the exhibit, and one is chosen for the show postcard. We invite all teachers to send no more than 3 of your best student images to info@kenancenter.org as soon as possible and no later than March 30. Color or B&W are welcome; horizontal orientation is preferred for postcard consideration. All images must be suitable for general audiences. Be sure to include student s name and title of the work. REQUIREMENTS ` A MAXIMUM of 10 entries per school will be accepted with ONE ENTRY PER STUDENT. Black and white and/or color photos that have been taken within the last two years and not previously exhibited at Kenan Center are eligible. Frames are not required, but all work must be matted and wired for hanging. White or neutral colored mats are suggested. Submissions must be suitable for wall display and may not exceed 30" in height or width. Framed works must be ready for hanging with secure corners and wire attached on the back. (TOOTH BRACKETS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.) The Kenan Center is not responsible for replacing frames if glass breaks due to poorly attached hanging wires. PLEASE DO NOT USE MASKING TAPE TO SECURE HANGING WIRES. In computer generated/manipulated compositions, at least ONE image must be an original, student-taken image. REMEMBER THAT A $2.00 PER PHOTO FEE IS REQUIRED WHEN PHOTOS ARE DELIVERED, OR YOU CAN INCLUDE THIS FEE WITH YOUR ENTRY FEE IN ONE CHECK. PLANNING TO ATTEND? PLEASE EMAIL ALYSSAMAYS@KENANCENTER.ORG AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Page 2 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Fill out the application form page 3 and mail to: KENAN CENTER, 433 Locust St., Lockport, NY 14094. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS MARCH 30. Include $10.00 entry fee, check or money order, made payable to KENAN CENTER. Please indicate All High Photo on the memo line. You can also notify us by email (send to alyssamays@ kenancenter.org) that you plan to participate and how many works you plan to submit. Application with fees must follow. EXHIBIT PREPARATION AND PHOTO DELIVERY IDENTIFICATION LABELS. An identification label must be attached to the back of each photo, on the lower right corner. Instructors must sign the labels. Please check the box to indicate DARKROOM or NON-DARKROOM processing. All photos are submitted at the owner's risk. See form in this PDF. Theresa Campofelice, Nardin Academy, Best Still Life Award 2017 GALLERY LABELS. Complete the Information for Gallery Labels form enclosed. The information on it will be used for creating the gallery labels that will be posted on the walls adjacent to photos in the exhibit and the show program. This form must be completed and signed by the instructor. See form in this PDF. WIRING/MOUNTING IMAGES. If you are matting photos rather than framing, PLEASE USE WIRE, NOT STRING and attach with highly adhesive tape or by sandwiching the photo between a top and bottom mat so that the wire can be secured through the back mat. Please also be sure you are using a thick enough mat board for the size of the image. Thin board tends to warp when hung and can damage the photo. PHOTO ENTRY FEE. A fee of $2 per photo must accompany delivery of photos.* This fee helps to offset the costs associated with the exhibit. Please make checks payable to KENAN CENTER. *You may also include the $2/photo fee with your application check, if you wish. DELIVERY OF PHOTOGRAPHS. Delivery of photographs can be made between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, any time after March 10, but no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 16. All photographs in the exhibit must remain on view throughout the entire show, April 22-May 11. PICK UP OF PHOTOGRAPHS. Photographs must be picked up at the Kenan House Office, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, May 14-18. Photos unclaimed by May 18 become the property of the Kenan Center. If you wish to have photographs returned by mail, you must include a pre-printed postage label OR stamps in the exact amount that it costs to ship the images to us. Do not send cash or check to cover postage; the Kenan Center cannot be responsible for purchasing postage. RECEPTION/AWARDS. There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Sunday, April 22 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with awards presentation starting at 3 p.m. Awards for students unable to attend the reception will be mailed to the instructors. Remember to mail your $10.00 entry fee with your application by March 30, 2018! (Make checks payable to: Kenan Center ) Photos, plus $2 per photo fee, and all required labels, forms, and statements, are due no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2018.
