LISA TILTON-McCARTHY Lisa Tilton-McCarthy received a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law in Houston. She was Editor-in-Chief of South Texas Law Review as well as Valedictorian of her graduating class. After graduation, Ms. Tilton-McCarthy served as a law clerk for the Honorable Vanessa D. Gilmore, United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She went on to work as an associate in the trial department of international law firm Baker Botts, L.L.P. for more than five years. She then accepted a visiting professorship at South Texas College of Law to focus on teaching legal research and writing. She also has held the position of clinical assistant professor of Lawyering Skills and Strategies at the University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Tilton-McCarthy currently teaches Lawyering Skills and Strategies to the Foreign L.L.M. students. She continues to teach part-time at South Texas College of Law in the Academic Success department as well, where she helps students develop a solid foundation for the practice of law after graduation. Additionally, she teaches Marital Property and Professional Responsibility during the summer sessions. Ms. Tilton-McCarthy still practices law and is of counsel to local Houston law firms, Novelli, Harvie & Associates, Attorneys at Law, P.L.L.C., and the Roberts Law Firm. She is also employed by other Houston-area law firms as a legal writing consultant. As an advocate of strong communication skills, she works with younger associates in the firm to improve their writing proficiency. DAN SCHOEPF Dan Schoepf is the executive vice president of Global Sales for BARBRI. He has extensive experience in high-stakes education and testing protocol. REUBEN ADVANI Reuben Advani is a frequent speaker on topics ranging from corporate valuation to financial reporting and is the author of two successful business books, The Wall Street MBA (McGraw-Hill) and Financial Freedom: A Guide to Achieving Lifelong Wealth and Security (Apress). Additionally, he founded a company to provide Professional Development training, which is now part of BARBRI for Legal Practice. He has presented to audiences in the United States, Europe and Asia. MARLA PERSKY Marla Persky is CEO and president of WOMN LLC, a company dedicated to helping women succeed in the business of law by increasing their knowledge of and acuity with financial drivers, client development and leadership. Throughout her professional life, Ms. Persky has had the opportunity to understand and practice business principles that lead to personal and company success. She has shared her experience and observations with other attorneys and professionals to assist them in career development and business excellence. Ms. Persky retired in 2013 as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim USA, where she oversaw a department of over 70 individuals.
