I painted them with Carbon. Let dry. Sand wood on all sides and inside, then remove dust with tack cloth. I did not seal the wood. Painting Instruction: I will give instructions for each section. I only paint one base coat of each color, unless otherwise stated. Use brush of your choice to fit area being painted. Lid: Using the ruler and pencil, mark the box and the stripes. 1

Paint the field with Legacy. Paint stripes: Rouge and Timeless. After the paint has dried, sand and remove dust. Shade the blue field with Carbon. Paint the star with Inheritance. Outline the star with Carbon and paint the stitches. Add Everlasting dots around the star. Shade the bottom of the red stripes with Carbon. Shade the top of Timeless with Rustic. Paint the letters with Heirloom. Shade the bottom with Rustic. Highlight the top with Everlasting. Paint all the lines and stitches with Carbon. Let dry. Top: Basecoat top, front, and sides with Inheritance. After paint has dried, sand and remove dust. Using the stencil brush and signs stencil, (or transfer the pattern) to add the circles around postale with Rustic. Paint the area behind the word with Timeless. Shade with Rustic. Highlight with Everlasting. Stencil (or paint) the letters with Carbon. I used the stencil brush to stencil on the wavy lines and 15c (on the ADS13 Postcard From Paris) with Carbon. (This can also be transferred and painted as above) When doing the lines, use just a little paint. You want it to be light and airy, not a solid line, more like dry brushing. With some of the background paint showing through. Paint the stars with Carbon. Front: Paint the checks and stars with Carbon. Trace on only part of the chicken. You will paint the tail feathers free hand. Both chickens are painted the same. Using the #6 flat brush, load with Rustic. Lightly brush in the breast and middle feathers and the tail feathers. Following the shape of the area being painted. Paint the comb, waddle, and the eye area with Rouge. Paint the head with Timeless. Pick up a little Carbon begin to shade under the middle feathers and shade under the head feathers. Add some choppy lines on the breast area. 2

Pickup Rouge and brush in the tail feathers, and add some choppy rouge to the breast area. Next, pick up Legacy, add some to the breast and tail. Last, load brush with Everlasting to add highlights. Shade the waddle, comb, and behind the eye with Carbon. Highlight with Fiery Red. Paint the eye with Inheritance. Paint the eye and outline with Carbon. Highlight with Everlasting. Paint the legs and feet with Rustic. Paint the heart with Rouge. Paint the star with Timeless. Shade heart with Carbon. Highlight with Fiery Red. Outline and paint the string with Carbon.
