His main interest in research is in structural engineering covering; i)reinforced concrete structures : shear and bending moment design and confined concrete; ii) High performance concrete and the use of additives in concrete; iii) Project management, asset management and structures reliability management related to EN 1990 Eurocode; iv) Earth quake engineering reference to EN 1998 Eurocode 8 and other current international codes of practice and v) any other potential topics in the field of civil engineering design and construction. Research areas: Membrane fabrication and separation; wastewater treatment technology and haemodialysis. Qualifications: Bachelor & PhD in Chemical Bioprocess Engineering (UTM) Background/Experience: She has more than six years research experience in membrane fabrication and its separation. She received a grant in year 2011 on formulating high performance polyacrylonitrile membranes for wastewater treatment. As the outputs of the research, several intellectual properties have been published. Currently, she is also doing research collaboration works on extracting essential oil for cosmetic use and developing computational model for membrane filtration. Background / Experience: Dr Chia obtained both his Bachelor Degree (Hons) (2004) & PhD (2008) in Mechanical Engineering in The University of Sheffield before joining SEGi University in 2009. His PhD research was funded by Rolls Royce, aiming to improve the damping behaviour of generic aeroengine fan blade using a mathematical algorithm; namely the Celular Automata algorithm. Thereafter, she continued her postgraduate studies with the University, collaborating with Photonic Research Centre, by then she earned her Master of Science degree, majoring in Photonics and Optical Fibre Communication devices. She specializes in optical light source and multi-wavelength Brillouin Erbium Fiber laser for DWDM system. She was an Optical Engineer for camera modules company and had developed various optical tests for product characterization from design to manufacturing stage. Thereafter, she pursued PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, researching on Photonics devices, wideband optical amplifier. Programme: PhD (Environmental Sciences) Research areas: low carbon economy research and development Qualifications: PhD (Air Pollution and Vegetation) from University of Sheffield. Background/Experience: Muhamad Awang is Vice Chancellor of SEGi University, and also an Emeritus Professor of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Environmental Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).Just before he assumed to the present position, he served as an advisor and member of think-tank group to the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia on Research, Development, and Commercialization, and he chaired Technical Committee for the establishment of Public Research Universities. His primary research, teaching and consulting focuses on impacts of atmospheric pollutants and climate change on ecosystem physiology of tropical rain forests and agricultural crops, and also serves as Chairman of National TC 207 Sub-Committee 5 on Life Cycle Assessment. He is a recipient of Langkawi Award for year 2000 and Fellow of Academy Sciences Malaysia and served as a Council Member. Currently he is involved with Long term Research Grant Project (LRGS)project on Low Carbon Economy together with other researchers coming from eight public and private universities sponsored by the Ministry of Education. Programme: PhD & MSc (Information Technology) Research Area: Computer-generated animation (CGA) Qualification: LL.B (Hons); M.Sc; Ph.D in Information Management (2006) Background / Experience: Dr. Norriza Hussin had analysed evidence which have been used by the animator to generate an animation. Her thesis involves an inter-disciplinary research on the computer-generated animation (CGA) as a method to present evidence in the courtrooms. She has identified evaluation matrix to assess the degree of reliability and accuracy of an animation. She was involved in a consultancy work proposing the use of CGA in the courtrooms in Malaysia and had presented it at the "2007 Annual Conference of the Prosecution Division" organized by the Attorney General Chambers, Malaysia. She studied Smart Technology and Robotics Engineering for her PhD. Her research interests are artificial intelligence, machine learning and optimization problems. It focuses on developing learning algorithms for high-dimensional feature representations with applications to sensory information processing and perception as well as information retrieval.
