9.43 MIAMI-DADE COUNTY 9.43.1 SYSTEM SUMMARY Miami-Dade County has a type 4, E 9-1-1 system consisting of seven primary, one secondary and three backup PSAPs as follows: 9.43.1.1 AVENTURA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Aventura has a primary PSAP located at the City of Aventura Police Department. Direct dispatching is accomplished at this center for law enforcement. Fire and Rescue calls are relayed to via CAD or telephone to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. 9.43.1.2 CORAL GABLES POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Coral Gables has a Primary PSAP located at the Coral Gables Police Department. Direct dispatching is accomplished at this center for the Coral Gables Police and Fire Department. 9.43.1.3 CORAL GABLES POLICE DEPARTMENT BACKUP PSAP A backup PSAP is located at the Biltmore Hotel. This PSAP is operated only in the event of the failure of the primary PSAP. 9.43.1.4 HIALEAH POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Hialeah has a Primary PSAP located at the Hialeah Fire Department Headquarters. Direct dispatching is accomplished at this center for the law enforcement, fire, and rescue services for the city. 9.43.1.5 MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Miami has a Primary PSAP located at the Miami Police Department. Direct dispatching is accomplished at this PSAP for all law enforcement services. All other calls are transferred or relayed to the secondary PSAP.

9.43.1.6 MIAMI FIRE DEPARTMENT SECONDARY PSAP A secondary PSAP is located at the Miami Beach Police Department and process all fire and rescue calls for the City of Miami. Callers are conferenced with the City of Miami Police Department call taker if fire or medical services are required. 9.43.1.7 MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT BACKUP PSAP A backup PSAP is located at the Miami Beach Fire Department. This PSAP is operated only in event of the failure of the Primary PSAP. 9.43.1.8 MIAMI-DADE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER Miami-Dade County has a Primary PSAP located at the Miami-Dade Communications Bureau that is operated by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Direct dispatching for police calls is accomplished at this center for the Miami-Dade Police Department, all other Police departments in the county not listed in this section, and the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department. Other emergency medical service calls are direct dispatched, transferred or relayed as appropriate. Included in the system are twenty-eight municipalities and nine other public safety agencies. The Miami-Dade Communications Center also functions as the back-up facility for: Aventura, Coral Gables, City of Miami, and Pinecrest. 9.43.1.9 MIAMI-DADE POLICE DEPARTMENT BACKUP PSAP A backup PSAP is located at the Data Processing Control Center in Miami Dade County and annex building. Combined, this PSAP contains 41 answer point positions fort the backup facilities. In the event of maintenance at the primary center, evacuation, or failure of the primary PSAP this location becomes the primary and is capable of handling the full call volume of the primary PSAP. 9.43.1.10 MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIMARY PSAP The City of Miami Beach has a Primary PSAP located at the Miami Beach Police Department. Within the PSAP is the City of Miami s Fire call takers. Direct Dispatching is accomplished at this center for police, fire, and rescue calls.

9.43.1.11 VILLAGE OF PINECREST POLICE DEPT. PRIMARY PSAP The Village of Pinecrest has a primary PSAP located at the Village of Pinecrest Police Department. Direct dispatching is accomplished at this center for law enforcement services. Fire and Rescue calls are relayed via CAD/telephone to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. 9.43.2 SYSTEM MANAGEMENT The responsible fiscal agent is the Board of County Commissioners. The Miami-Dade County Office of Management and Budget provides fiscal management. City of Aventura Primary PSAP The City of Aventura Police Department under the management of the Chief of Police operates the City of Aventura Primary PSAP. Coral Gables Primary PSAP The City of Coral Gables Primary PSAP is operated by the Coral Gables Police Department under the management of the Chief of Police. Hialeah Primary PSAP The City of Hialeah Primary PSAP is operated by the Hialeah Police Department under the management of the Police Chief. Miami Primary PSAP The City of Miami Primary PSAP is operated by the Miami Police Department under the management of the Chief of Police. Miami Secondary PSAP The City of Miami Secondary PSAP is operated by the Miami Fire Department under the management of the Fire Chief.

Miami Beach Primary PSAP The City of Miami Beach Primary PSAP is operated by the Miami Beach Police Department under the management of the Chief of Police. Miami-Dade County Primary PSAP The Miami-Dade Police Department Communications Bureau under the management of the Miami-Dade Police Department Director operates the Miami-Dade County Primary PSAP. Village of Pinecrest Primary PSAP The Village of Pinecrest Police Department under management of the Chief of Police operates the Village of Pinecrest Primary PSAP. 9.43.3 INTERLOCAL AGREEMENTS The Miami-Dade County E9-1-1 system has selective routing thereby eliminating all central office overlaps with adjoining counties. There is no specific requirement for an interlocal agreement.
