1 Name Date Directions: Read each question. Look at the s tip for answering the question. Then find the answer. You may do your work on this page or on scrap paper. Mark your answer by filling in the bubble. 1. Which of these is the same as 2,304? A two thousand three hundred forty B two thousand three hundred four C two hundred thirty-four D twenty thousand three hundred four 2. What is six thousand eighty-four in standard form? A 684 B 6,840 C 6,804 D 6,084 3. Which set of numbers is in order from least to greatest? A 641, 593, 657, 579 B 657, 641, 593, 579 C 579, 593, 641, 657 D 593, 579, 641, 657 4. Laura is counting by 2 s. What number should come next after twenty-four? A twenty-two B twenty-five C twenty-six D twenty-eight Read the number aloud. Then find the words that are the same as what you read. To write this number in standard form, write each part of the number first. Then put the parts together. For example, one thousand has 3 zeros, so six thousand is 6,000. Look at the first number in each answer choice. When ordering numbers from least to greatest, the smallest number should come first. Count by 2 s aloud, starting with 20, and write the numbers as you count. 8

1 Name 5. Marcus uses these blocks to show how many third graders go to his school. What number is shown? A 51 B 53 C 531 D 503 Remember to look at each group of blocks. Each long block group equals 10 and each short block equals 1. 6. Which point on the number line is at 1 A B C D 0 1 2 A point A B point B C point C D point D 2? To read the number line correctly, count the number of hash marks between 0 and 1 to figure out what each mark represents. 9

1 Name 7. Mike eats 1 of a pizza, as shown. 3 In each figure below, the shaded part represents a fraction. Which fraction is equal to the amount of pizza Mike ate? Each circle represents a fraction: the number of shaded parts over the total number of parts. Find the fraction that means the same as 1_ 3. 10

1 Name 8. In 6,501, what does the 5 represent? A 5 B 50 C 500 D 5,000 9. Gina has 3 of a dollar. How much money does she have? 4 A $0.25 B $0.34 C $0.43 D $0.75 10. A movie theater sold 2,384 adult tickets and 1,557 child tickets. How many tickets did the theater sell all together? A 827 B 3,841 C 3,941 D 4,941 11. The town of Smithburg has 1,238 people. The town of Clarksville has 893 people. How many more people live in Smithburg than in Clarksville? A 335 B 345 C 445 D 1,345 To find the place value of one digit in a number, write out the number in expanded form. For example, the 6 in this number represents 6,000. Keep in mind that there are four quarters in one dollar, and each quarter is worth 25 cents. The words all together tell you to find the total number of tickets sold. Add the number of adult tickets and the number of child tickets. Look at the words how many more. They tell you to find the difference, so subtract the number of people in Clarksville from the number of people in Smithburg. 11
