DEPARTMENT 18 NEEDLECRAFTS/DOMESTICS/FINE ARTS Superintendent: DTAF Association Entry Deadline: June 15 th of the current fair year. No exceptions! OPEN ENTRIES ONLY NO Youth Entries YOUTH MUST enter in Department 11 ENTRY FEES: 1-5 entries- $2.00, 6-10 entries 2.75, 11-16 entries - $3.75, 16-20 entries - $5.00 Limit of 20 entries per exhibitor per department. RULES: (In addition to the General Rules) PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO RULES AND CLASSES 1. All items entered within Department 18 MUST be clean, laundered, ironed and overall in very like-new condition. Any dirty/soiled item will be disqualified as well. 2. All items MUST be made since the close of last year s fair and to have been made by the entering person. All displayed items entered are photographed each year and will be disqualified if shown before. The fair also has the right/privilege to request information/patterns of how something is made if a severe question is made by the judge of any item(s). 3. All items under Department 18 must be presented on wire hangers that have a for display purposes. Each item must be hung/displayed on hanger as it would be viewed (have pants hanging out from under a top). All pants/skirts must be placed on clip type hangers for easy removal. Generally, each item is considered a SINGLE item unless noted to be a Set or has an implied Set indication (aka-pj s). 4. ALL plastic bags/boxes MUST not be presented with items for entry. We do not store and will be discarded via the trash. 5. ALL ENTRY TAGS MUST BE ATTACHED BY ENTERING PERSONS WITH SAFETY PINS (do not tie tags to items) to entering items. Staff will NOT be responsible for appropriate tagging/entry into correct categories. 6. PLEASE try to have all items to the entry area no later than ½ hour BEFORE the close of entry so appropriate care can be taken with your items and they can be checked in with your knowledge of entry into appropriate areas or if changes have to be made for your items. All efforts will be made to assist you during checking in. It is advised to not just drop and leave your items even though tagged as staff may be busy with other entry persons and will not be held responsible for your dropped off items. All compete together and MUST not fall within areas already listed. All Class 2 Quilts of any type or size will automatically be entered into the Best of Show Quilt with additional prize of $25.00 and Commemorative Ribbon. **YOUTH will compete within their own category as well as with all other Adult entries for the Best of Show Quilt for the overall fair and are entitled to the additional prize monies if deemed OVERALL best. Quilt Block Contest The theme for the 2018 Quilt Block Contest is A TRADITIONAL OLD FASHIONED BLOCK. We ask that you create a block using new fabric. Each block will become the property of the Derry Township Ag Fair and will be constructed into a quilt which will be raffled off at a future DTAF event. a. Each block must be a 12 inch finished block, 12.5 before it is sewn together. Color is to be BLUE. b. Each block must be made of 100% cotton, prewashed and treated to prevent bleeding. c. NO buttons, charms or paint may be included. d. ONE entry per exhibitor for judging. e. Blocks may not include batting or backing and may not be quilted.
