Fig. 1 FOR ROLL-IN DOCKS STEP 1 - - - - - - Fasten the () stringers to the bottom handrail assembly. Attach the ends of the stringers that have the first two holes at the bottom of the assembly spaced 9-9/16 apart using /8 x 2 bolts, flat washers, and nylock nuts. Place the end caps on the steps and insert the steps between the stringers. Attach to the stringers using /8 x 1 1/ bolts, and flat washers on each step. Install mounting brackets and top step handrail weldment. Attach to the stringers using /8 x 1 1/ bolts, and flat washers. Tighten all nuts until snug. Do not overtighten. Overtightening will prevent the steps from leveling themselves. Page 5
Fig. 2 STEP 2 - - - - - - Install the handrail assemblies using /8 x 1 / bolts, flat washers and nylock jam nuts as in Detail B above. Be sure to install with the 11 long extension towards the top of steps. Tighten all nuts until snug. Do not over tighten. Page 6
STEP - - - - - - Install the assembled stairs by attaching the mounting tubes to dock frame using () /8 X bolts and () /8 nylock nuts. Insert the bolts through the holes in the mounting tubes and spacers. If the bolt is to close to web on deck, do not add a spacer. The webbing will act as the spacer. See Fig. Space the center of the mounting tubes apart in desired stair location. Torque to 25 ft/lbs. Insert the heads of the bolts on the stairs mounting brackets into the key slots of the mounting tubes and be sure the heads of the bolts slide down into key slots to secure steps. - - - - - - - - - - - NOTE - - - - - - - - - - - If you live in a cold climate that requires removal of your steps in the fall, special attention needs to be taken to make sure that the drain holes are unobstructed to provide proper drainage. After determining the location the stairs, use a framing square and mark a vertical line across the top and bottom serration (these serrations are " apart and are intended to act as a hole spacing reference; refer to Detail F). Mark a second line " from the first as shown in Fig.. Use the hammer and center punch to make a dimple for the drill bit. This helps to prevent the drill from wandering during the drilling process. Keep the drill bit perpendicular to the dock frame while drilling. Install the assembled stairs by attaching the mounting tubes using () /8" x " bolts and () /8" Nylock nuts. Insert the bolts through the holes in the mounting tubes to the dock and through the dock side, and torque to 25 ft/lbs. Insert the heads of the bolts on the stairs mounting brackets into the key slots of the mounting tubes and be sure the heads of the Page 8 bolts slide down into key slots to secure steps. - - - - - - - - - - - NOTE - - - - - - - - - - - If you live in a cold climate that requires removal of your steps in the fall, special attention needs to be taken to make sure that the drain holes are unobstructed to provide proper drainage.
