Alumajust by Shade Structures inc. The Alumajust by Shade Structures inc. is a hybrid patio shade structure. It consists of an Alumalattice frame and a Louvered top. To correctly construct this structure you will need both the Alumalattice and Alumajust top instruction. Build the Alumalattice structure according to instructions and engineering but do not install the lattice tubes. In place of the lattice tubes the Solara louvered top will be installed. These instructions are meant to be a supplement to the Alumalattice instructions for the Alumajust top. Keep in mind the engineering always supercedes the instructions. Always check with the engineering when computing spans, gauges, snow loads, wind loads, connection details, etc. It is your responsibility to check with your local building authority to confirm all recommended snow and wind loads. Building permits may be required in your area. We highly recommend getting any required permits prior to ordering an AlumaShade product. AlumaShade products are all custom made and there are no returns on any material. You may contact us at: p. 316-530-1859 e. info@alumawood.com f. 888-288-2620 2
Installation of Louver Beam Bracket (105) Place two outer lover beam brackets (105) on rafter (104), maintaining a distance of 20 cm or 7.88 in. from both edges of the rafter (104). Evenly disperse other required lover beam brackets (105) between the two outer lover beam brackets (105) (the maximum allowed distance between two pairs of brackets is 120 cm or 47.2in.). Attach lover beam brackets (105) to rafter (104) using screws (C). *Repeat this step for second rafter. 3
Installation of Louver Beam (106) Insert louver beams (106) into lover beam brackets (105) making sure edges of lover beams (106) are all equal distance from rafter (104). At this stage, lover beam (106) should be connected to one lover beam bracket (105) only, using two screws (C), one from each side. 4
Installation of Crank Mechanism (150) Install crank mechanism (150) on designated point on louver beam (106) (see fig. 7-1) Place drive shaft (107) on crank mechanism (150). Tighten with screws (B-150) (see fig. 7-2). 5
Installation of Optional Electrical motor (160) Insert motor (160) adapter (C-160) on designated place as per fig. 8-1. Install motor (160) using screws (D-160 and E-160). Connect electrical wires from motor to control box (160A). If wires are too short, they may be extended. Verify that wires are properly insulated. Connect control box (160-A) to appropriate power source. 6
Installation of Drive Shafts (107) to Louver Beams Insert drive shaft (107) to its appropriate place on each of the louver beams (106) (see fig. 9-1). 7
Adjusting length of Drive Shaft Extensions (108) Cut raw material provided for drive shaft extension (108) to pieces equal in length to distance between louver beams (106). De-burr inside of drive shaft extension (108) using file or other appropriate tool. 8
Installation of Drive Shaft Extender (108) Insert drive shafts into crank mechanism ( or motor) and louver beams. Move drive shafts (107) sideways as per fig. 11-2. Gently lift loose side of louver beam (106) on which the crank mechanism or motor is connected. Place drive shaft extender (108) on to drive shaft (107) located inside crank mechanism ( or motor ). Move crank shaft located in lover beam into crank shaft extender, making sure crank shaft is equally spaced. Finish installation by inserting outer crank shaft into crank shaft extender. 9
Completion of Louver Beam and Drive Shaft Extenders Assembly Connect louver beams (106) to lover beam brackets (105) using screws (C) (see fig. 12-1). Connect all drive shaft extenders (108) to drive shafts (107) using screws (D) (see fig. 12-2). (Drill 4 mm. hole in order to insert screw D. 1
Installation of Louvers (109) At this stage, only 3 louvers (109) are installed: one on the left side of the patio cover, one of the center, and one on the right Open system to 250 angle as per( fig. 13-1). Carefully place the appropriate edge of one louver (109) on to rear side of each louver bracket (112) as per (fig. 13-2). Before progressing to next step, verify that louver (109) is inserted on to all louver brackets (112) along its length (see fig. 13-2). Push front edge of louver (109) so that it is adjacent to louver bracket (112) as per fig. ( 13-3). Click louver bracket (112) into position in louver (109). Make sure tongue of bracket points upwards as per fig. (13-4.) 11
Installation of Optional Cap Flashing (110) and Remaining Louvers Set system to 90 opened position. Fig (13-1) Connect cap flashing (not included) to wall using screws (E). Maintain a distance of 0.5 cm. between cap flashing (111) and top edge of louvers (109). Sealing gap between cap flashing (111) and wall is recommended, utilizing appropriate sealing material. Set system to 25 as per fig. 13. Install remaining louvers (109) as per previous instructions. Open and close patio cover few times, visually inspecting all parts. 1
