They learn to connect circuits, measure electrical parameters, perform calculations, and troubleshoot. Two variants of the system are available: System 3460-0 includes all required components to perform the exercises of the student manual and a double-sided workstation that can accommodate an additional team of students if the second team add-on is also ordered. System 3460-A is the second team add-on and includes the same components as system 3460-A but without the workstation. It is a great way to optimize limited laboratory space. Courseware The student manual provides the necessary theoretical background and detailed step-by-step procedures to efficiently perform the hands-on exercises. A list of review questions is also available at the end of each exercise. The instructor guide has the same content as the student manual plus the answers to procedure and review questions. The structure is pre-assembled, made of steel, and intended for use on a table (not supplied, offered as option). Four pairs of mounting rails firmly hold the modules of the HVAC-R line of products in place. One holder on each side permits users to neatly arrange the test leads. Power Source 46200-00 The Power Source provides power to the other modules of the training system through 4 mm terminals. The module can be powered via standard single-phase ac power outlets. The power source output voltage is equal to the voltage of the ac power network to which the power source is connected. A thermal-magnetic circuit breaker provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection. Switches 46201-00 The Switches module consists of two double-pole single-throw (DPST) toggle switches, and one double-pole single-throw (DPDT) toggle switch. Each switch is designed to operate at either 24 V using the 2 mm terminals, or at ac power network voltage using the 4 mm terminals. The module also includes four fault-insertion switches to teach the principles of troubleshooting, as well as two ground terminals. Indicator Lights 46202-00 The Indicator Lights module is fitted with three low-voltage (24 V) green and red incandescent lights and three high-voltage (ac power network voltage) green and red LEDs. Access to the low-voltage lights is achieved through 2 mm terminals, while access to the high-voltage lights is achieved through 4 mm terminals. Resistors 46203-00 The Resistors module consists of a series of resistors with different ratings: two low-resistance, one medium-resistance, and two highresistance resistors. All resistors have a tolerance of 5%. Access to the resistors is achieved through 2 mm terminals. Openings in the module allow dissipation of the heat produced by the resistors. The module also includes four fault-insertion switches to teach the principles of troubleshooting, as well as two ground terminals. Contactors 46206-00 The Contactors module consists of two contactors, each with two sets of normally open contacts. The coil of one contactor operates at 24 V, while the coil of the other contactor operates at the ac power network voltage. The high-voltage contactor also includes auxiliary contacts. Both contactors are provided with a pushto-test button. The module also includes six fault-insertion switches to teach the principles of troubleshooting, as well as two ground terminals. Push Buttons 46207-00 The Push Buttons module consists of two push-button switches, one green and one red. Each push-button switch has two pairs of terminals, one pair of miniature 2 mm banana jacks and one pair of 4 mm banana jacks. Residential Bimetallic Thermostat 46210-00 The Residential Bimetallic Thermostat module consists of a thermostat designed for heating control. The temperature sensing element is a bimetallic strip wound into a coil that expands or contracts when temperature changes. The moving contact switches on when the temperature drops below the temperature setting and switches off when the temperature rises above the temperature setting. The thermostat is a two-wire control device, designed to operate at 24 V ac. The module also includes four fault-insertion switches to teach the principles of troubleshooting, as well as two ground terminals.
