Explore & Discover The future of pipeline inspection
Tracerco Tracerco s Subsea Technologies include diagnostic technologies designed to optimise the performance and assess the integrity of your subsea assets as well as a range of highly accurate and reliable subsea instrumentation to measure level and density. Our instrumentation has been designed to deliver in the harshest environments with over 20 years life and has been deployed in many projects globally. A world leading technology company, Tracerco has used its scientific expertise for over 25 years in support of the oil and gas industry, providing unique and specialised detection, diagnostic and measurement solutions. With facilities, knowledge and expertise located around the world, Tracerco provides its international customers with the first class service expected from an industry leader. Discovery TM and Explorer TM are Tracerco s latest innovations in subsea technology. Discovery TM is the world s first Subsea CT scanner, and Explorer TM allows long lengths of coated lines to be screened prior to detailed inspection by Discovery TM. Pipelines can now be scanned from the outside without the need to remove protective coatings, allowing assessment of flow assurance and pipeline integrity, even of unpiggable pipelines, with a totally non-intrusive scan and under normal pipeline operating conditions. This will save costs on projects such as pipeline life extension and remediation of restrictions or blockages. 1
Save on the cost of flow assurance remediation projects by using Discovery, the only technology capable of obtaining a clear visual image of your coated pipeline. Explorer Discovery TM Explorer TM Introducing unique technologies from Tracerco As assets age over time oilfield professionals are continuously faced with the test of ensuring efficient production and pipeline integrity. Inspection of these pipelines subsea has often presented challenges where pigging is not an option or deemed too risky. Until now, inspecting a pipeline from the outside was costly and often an ineffective high risk. Tracerco has broken down this barrier to inspection by allowing online inspection of the pipe from the outside without removing the protective coating, therefore saving on the costs of an inspection campaign. Discovery TM and Explorer TM technologies have been created for flow assurance and integrity specialists concerned with subsea pipelines that cannot be inspected by conventional means such as ILI tools. These technologies can be deployed on pipelines, online, without any interruption to production or the need for pipeline modifications. Introducing the world s first Subsea CT Scanner Discovery non-intrusively scans through both coated and uncoated subsea pipelines to build up a full tomographic image of pipe wall thickness and pipeline contents. This allows operators to inspect unpiggable or difficult to inspect pipelines (including pipe-in-pipe, pipe bundles, risers and jumpers) without stopping/deferring production, saving up to 35% on the cost of inspection campaigns, compared with conventional scanning techniques. Accurate sizing of wall thickness can be made in minutes with a high resolution image of the pipe wall(s) being provided from an external scan of the pipeline. The tomographic image shows flaws within the pipe walls as well as the location, amount and density of any material and/or deposits in the line, within a density difference of 0.05g/cc and allows operators to plan for the future life of the pipeline. Coated pipeline screening technology for flow assurance Tracerco has developed Explorer TM to provide screening services in order to identify areas of interest for further investigation. Whilst computer modelling can predict flow profiles and deposit build up, it is not as accurate or reliable as real time data. Explorer has unique technology that allows pipelines to be quickly screened for the location of any deposits, with several kilometres of line surveyed per shift without any interruption to production. 2 3
Save on lifetime extension inspection projects by removing the requirement to prepare the pipeline for inline inspection or remove coatings for UT inspection. Integrity and Inspection Discovery TM provides integrity specialists with a reliable method of measuring the wall thickness of pipelines. Accurate sizing of wall thickness can be made in minutes with a high resolution image of pipeline contents being provided from an external scan of the pipeline. The tomographic image shows flaws within the pipe walls and allows operators to plan for the future life of the pipeline. Deployment of Discovery TM brings several benefits to integrity specialists: :: Removes the concern and risk of internal inspection tools getting stuck and interrupting production :: Allows unpiggable pipelines that were previously considered impossible to inspect to be assessed :: It can be deployed quickly by ROV and no modification to the pipeline is required :: Measurements can be taken online with no interruption to production with immediate results :: Saves on the cost and risk of coating removal :: Greater accuracy for non-intrusive techniques allowing confidence in extended life calculations :: Verification and sizing 4 5
Pipe-in-pipe Integrity Save on the cost of coating removal and obtain instant pipeline visualisation for both inner and outer pipes. Integrity and Inspection Pipe-in-Pipe Systems For the first time Discovery TM provides integrity specialists with a reliable method of diagnosing wall thinning of both pipes in a pipe-in-pipe system. Inline inspection only provides data on the condition of the inner pipe. External AUT only provides data on the condition of the outer pipe. Discovery TM provides accurate data on both pipes as well as pipeline contents. Integrity and inspection specialists can now obtain data on anomolies and wall thinning as well as water ingress between pipes, allowing both the inner and outer pipeline in a pipe-in-pipe system to be inspected from the outside. Risers, Caissons and Pipe Bundles Discovery TM also provides integrity specialists with an accurate method of obtaining integrity data on all types of coated risers including caissons and any internal flowlines. A tomographic wall thickness map of each scanning location is accurately provided through any type of protective coating 6 7
Tracerco s cutting-edge technology finally fulfills the long awaited dream of having technology to help solve some of the most intriguing flow assurance challenges. Keijo Kinnari, Statoil Senior Specialist, Technology Excellence Flow Assurance Discovery TM provides flow assurance specialists with a reliable method of diagnosing flow abnormalities within pipelines without interruption to pipeline operations. Flow Assurance Specialists can now obtain an accurate measurement of hydrate, wax, asphaltene or scale build up in pipelines, which was previously impossible using any other technology. Discovery TM can be deployed on a variety of flowlines including pipe-in-pipe and risers, caissons and pipe bundles. Discovery TM can also diagnose the effectiveness of any remedial treatment. This has several benefits for the operator: :: Ensure remediation is right first time to save on the costs on ineffectual campaigns :: Previously unobtainable data can now be obtained on hydrate, wax and other build-up in pipelines to allow the operator to optimise production :: Measurements can be taken online with no interruption to pipeline operations, ensuring no loss of revenue to the operator :: There is no risk of a stuck pig :: There is no risk to production as the measurements are taken from the outside of the pipeline :: No need to remove coatings (cost saving) :: Immediate results :: Can be used for the inspection of unpiggable pipelines :: Non-intrusive detection :: Easily deployed and simple operation through an ROV Explorer TM is also available for fast screening to identify areas of interest scanning several kilometres of line per shift prior to deploying Discovery TM. 8 9
