Intraocular lenses from Oculentis Proprietary manufacturing technology developed by Oculentis The heart of this manufacturing facility is the proprietary manufacturing process which is termed Sub-Micron-Lathing Technology (SML Technology). SML Technology allows for extremely precise optics and sharp contours without the need for polishing. This is the basis for the extreme precision and high reproducibility of complex optic designs. This precision is also instrumental in achieving the sharp, square edges necessary for preventing cell migration in the posterior capsule and therefore effectively delaying the formation of PCO. SEM image of LENTIS L-312 Hydrosmart Biomaterial Best of Both Worlds Hydrosmart is a material with high water content and hydrophobic surface properties, it therefore combines the best of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic materials. Its most important properties are: Hydrophobic surface Miyake-Apple posterior view of LENTIS L-303 Refractive index 1,46 ~25% water content Hydrophobic surface Ultrapure due to special purification No discoloration in the eye Very low incidence of PCO Hydrosmart is highly biocompatible and has clinically proven to be a very safe and effective material with more than 1 million lenses implanted in Europe alone. Blue light filtering Biomaterial Oculentis also offers in its LENTIS Select range of IOL's biomaterial with blue light filtering capability. The absorption values are ideally profiled for maximum transmittance of the visible light spectrum combined with optimal blocking of high energy light waves that may cause harm to the macula.
The LENTIS Product Range IOL Design Oculentis offers a variety of IOL designs to choose from. The most popular design is the open loop design as one piece (LENTIS L-302) or three piece (LENTIS L-402). The plate design (LENTIS L-303) offers the possibility to be implanted through a sub 2.0 mm incision and is therefore ideally suited for MICS techniques. LENTIS L-303 LENTIS L-302 LENTIS L-402 LENTIS aspheric IOL s also exhibit an additional 360º haptic-optic square edge barrier that thanks to the precision of SML Technology delivers an optimally effective prevention of secondary cataract formation (LENTIS L-312). LENTIS L-312 IOL Optics Aspheric Optics In standard spherical IOL s light rays entering at the periphery of the optic exhibit a higher refraction than light rays entering paraxially. This phenomena is called spherical aberration. With the new concept of adjusting the posterior central thickness of the IOL, an aspheric posterior surface is created. This assures that all light rays are virtually refracted equally in one focal point and therefore the IOL being virtually free of spherical aberration. The Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) is an indicator for the optical imaging performance of an IOL. The LENTIS aspheric optical design improves contrast vision, color perception, and still retains a comfortable depth of field. (LENTIS L-312) Toric Optics Toric IOL s are an increasingly important and reliable tool for the surgeon to treat corneal astigmatism during cataract surgery. LENTIS Unico (LU) offers a 100% customized compensation of virtually any corneal astigmatism. An IOL calculator form is provided for the surgeon in order to identify the right IOL parameters for the individual patient. Then the lens will be manufactured to order. The LENTIS Unico is available in the plate and the one piece open loop design. Both lens designs have clinically been proven to be rotationally stable, which is a necessary precondition for providing reliable correction of corneal astigmatism. The LENTIS Unico in plate design (LENTIS LU-313 T) can be inserted through sub 2.0 mm incisions (MICS) thus providing enhanced predictability and reproducibility by using astigmatism-neutral LENTIS Unico LU-313 T incisions. In addition to the astigmatism compensation on the anterior surface, the LENTIS Unico also exhibits an aspheric posterior surface further enhancing the optical image quality of the IOL.
