PetroTimes, 23 August 2013, www.petrotimes.vn Application of Modern Technology Solutions for Oil & Gas Industry A range of modern technology solutions for consultancy, design, construction management, and operations of oil and gas facilities were introduced to local Vietnamese companies at the Intergraph PP&M Southeast Asia 2013 conference held July 2013 at Imperial Hotel in Vung Tau. Integrated Applications True Technology Company Limited, the exclusive authorized reseller of Intergraph Process, Power & Marine (PP&M) in Vietnam, collaborated with Intergraph to hold the Intergraph PP&M Southeast Asia 2013 conference, introducing the latest technology updates to the local Vietnamese market. At the conference, industry experts in the design, construction, operation and management of plants, ships, and offshore oil and gas facilities in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region discussed a range of integrated solutions for the industry. These solutions help to increase safety, quality, and productivity, while ensuring data synchronization across the entire project life cycle, which are applicable for power and oil and gas facilities in Vietnam. Smart 3D can be applied effectively for offshore oil and gas exploration projects This industry-leading conference focused on Intergraph s SmartPlant and SmartMarine Enterprise solutions, including Smart 3D, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Materials, SmartPlant Fusion, SmartPlant Construction, and many others. It also introduced Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions, including CADWorx (3D design package), CAESAR II (pipe stress analysis), PV Elite (pressure vessel/heat exchanger design and analysis), PV Fabricator (pressure vessel fabrication), and TANK (tank design and analysis). These solutions can support the oil and gas industry in Vietnam, helping local companies to maximize resources and achieve success in the design and management of their facilities. Franz Kufner, senior vice president of Asia-Pacific at Intergraph PP&M, said, With this conference, Intergraph affirms our ongoing investment and commitment to our partners and customers here in Vietnam. PetroVietnam Vietnam s largest oil and gas company is an Intergraph customer and uses our integrated solutions to ensure safety, quality, and productivity. We also want to help support in enhancing the skills of designers, particularly in the oil and gas industry, and are looking at the most suitable and effective methods. To demonstrate this commitment, Intergraph signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreements with PetroVietnam University and Ho Chi Minh University of Technology. The MoUs
PetroTimes, 23 August 2013, www.petrotimes.vn support the education of local students at these universities, enabling them to learn how to apply Intergraph s advanced technology solutions. Optimum Efficiency Intergraph technology has already been applied effectively at some subsidiaries for PetroVietnam in plant design, implementation of drilling platforms, and others. For example, Vietsovpetro, PV Shipyard, Dung Quat Refinery, PV Engineering, PTSC-MC, PVC-MS, PV Gas-PMC, and others have used Intergraph solutions. Intergraph and TrueTech leaders engaged in discussion at Intergraph PP&M Southeast Asia 2013 The Research and Design Institute of Vietsovpetro (NIPI) has implemented Intergraph Smart 3D for oil and gas exploration projects, such as BK 16, BK 17, Nam Rong-Doi Moi, and others. Smart 3D enables engineers to work simultaneously in a multi-discipline design environment, which speeds up the design process and enhances collaboration. Using Smart 3D, MTO can be easily extracted for procurement, which was challenging to do with traditional 2D design. The implementation of Smart 3D for the design of the process piping system and topside of the BK 16 platform resulted in a saving of US$240K for Vietsovpetro. In addition, NIPI has implemented SmartPlant P&ID for the design of the BK 17 platform and continues to enhance the design integration process with Smart 3D. Other subsidiaries of Vietsovpetro such as its Offshore Construction Division (OCD) and Oil & Gas Production Division are also starting to use Smart 3D. OCD has also implemented SmartPlant Spoolgen for pipe fabrication. PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation Mechanical and Construction (PTSC-M&C) has been exploring the use of SmartPlant Instrumentation. PTSC-M&C recognized that SmartPlant Instrumentation is a very effective tool for instrumentation after its contractor used it for the Bien Dong project. PV Shipyard, which recently completed the detailed design of a 90-meter jack-up rig using Smart 3D, is preparing to use the solution for the Tam Dao 07 project and others. The Vietnamese oil and gas companies, such as Vietsovpetro, PTSC, PV Engineering, PVC MS, and so on, are also exploring the use of Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions. JGC Vietnam Co. Ltd. is currently establishing design teams to use Intergraph solutions for major projects in the future, such as the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical project.
PetroTimes, 23 August 2013, www.petrotimes.vn Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd. has also implemented Intergraph solutions for management of engineering data, design, and plant changes. All data from Technip, its contractor for the project, can be accessed from a central system to support these processes, and ensuring integrated information management for effective change and safety management. Many companies in the oil and gas industry, including subsidiaries of PetroVietnam, recognize that it is important to invest in modern technology to increase quality, productivity, and automation of engineering processes, said Le Tu Duong, deputy managing director of True Technology. These organizations are actively applying these solutions for design, information management, or operation of their facilities. By establishing an integrated engineering environment, True Technology and Intergraph are supporting our customers to design and build industrial plants, from creating P&D drawings, establishing the 3D model and piping design, through to fabrication and construction of these facilities.
