Introduction The President of India has declared this decade as the Decade of Innovations. The GoI has set up a National Innovation Council to promote innovation in the country. Several research organizations/ agencies including CSIR, ICMR, DBT, DST, ICAR, ISRO, DRDO etc are promoting a culture of innovation and setting up technology commercialization initiatives such as CSIR Tech, FICCI DRDO Accelerated commercialization of Technology, Agrinnovate, DBT BIRAC etc. In this context, we expect that during this decade various research and academic organizations will need to set up intellectual property administration/ management and tech transfer operations in house or strengthen/upscale their existing operations.
