Sunshine Toy Empty cardboard toilet paper rolls Scissors Step 1: Cut tabs at each end of the roll. Step 2: Fold tabs back, creating a sunshine look. Sock Fish Dried catnip Small sock Tape 8 ½-by-11-inch piece of paper Step 1: Roll an 8 ½-by-11-inch piece of paper into a cone for a funnel; secure with tape. Step 2: Insert funnel into sock, and fill halfway with catnip. Step 3: Knot sock just above filling.
Pom Poms Fabric Fabric scissors Step 1: Cut 21 strips of fabric to approximately 6 inches in length. Step 2: Make a stack of 20 fabric strips, and tie them together in the center with the other fabric strip. Step 3: Fluff!
Puzzle Feeder Empty cardboard toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls Empty square or rectangular tissue box or shoe box Hot glue gun Scissors Step 1: If using a tissue box, cut off the top so that the box is open. Step 2: Cut the rolls to the same length as the height of the box, if needed. Step 3: Place the rolls in the box, gluing each one in place as you go. Continue until the box is filled snugly with rolls. Step 4: Deliver to ARF, and we will fill the puzzle with treats!
Scratch Circle Cardboard boxes (all sizes, all kinds, at least 5 medium-size boxes) Masking tape Scissors Ruler Optional: Decorative paper or fabric Step 1: Choose a height for the pad, (The example shown is 4 ). Step 2: Measure and cut the cardboard into strips of identical width. Cut so that the ridges in the cardboard are going horizontally across the strips. Step 3: Roll a strip of cardboard in your hands, bending at each corrugation. The cardboard will start to curl naturally. Step 4: Tightly wind that strip into a circle and tape closed. This will be the core. Step 5: Add a new strip around the core, and secure it with tape. Choose which side will be the top of the scratch circle, and make sure that side is always even. Step 6: Keep adding cardboard! Tape each piece right next to the end of the last piece, and keep the coiling tight. Step 7 (optional): Cut your decorative paper or fabric, and wrap it around the outside. Tape to close.

Water Bottle Sock Long, clean sock Empty water bottle with label, cap, and plastic ring removed Step 1: Stuff the bottle all the way into the sock. Step 2: Knot the sock tightly above the bottle.
Sock Donut One pair of clean socks per donut Fabric scissors Step 1: Cut off the toe portion of the socks. Step 2: Turn both socks inside out. Step 3: Slide one sock all the way inside the other. Step 4: Roll from the toes to the ribbing, stopping once you almost reach the ribbing. Step 5: Roll the ribbing of both socks over the roll you made in order to form the donut. Braided Tug Toy Fabric Fabric scissors Step 1: Cut fabric into three strips that are approximately 2 feet in length and 4 inches wide. For a thicker toy, use more strips. Step 2: Tie the strips together at the top into a firm knot. Step 3: Braid the strips into a tight braid. Step 4: Tie the bottom of the braid into a firm knot. Rope Toy Rope Strong scissors Large pliers This toy is a little more difficult to make, but it is great for our heavy chewers! Please follow the instructions here.
PVC Treat Dispenser 2-inch PVC pipe cut 12 inches long 2-inch PVC cap 2-inch threaded cap (easy to screw on and off) Drill (Get an adult to help you!) ¼-inch drill bit ½-inch drill bit Step 1: Drill pilot holes along the outside of the pipe with the ¼-inch drill bit. Step 2: Use the pilot holes as a guide to drill the actual holes with the ½-inch drill bit. Step 3: Fit the cap onto one end and the threaded cap onto the other end. Step 4: Deliver to ARF, and we will insert the dog treats!
No-Sew Fleece Blankets Fleece fabric Fabric scissors Step 1: Select the fabric. Choose a print and a contrasting or matching solid. You will need a solid and a print that are the same size. We recommend 18 x 24 for cats and small dogs or 36 x 36 for larger dogs. Step 2: Line up the two fabric pieces, right side OUT. Step 4: Cut out a small square from each of the four corners. Step 5: Cut fringe on all four sides of the blanket. Cut through both layers of fabric at the same time. Fringe pieces should be a little wider than the width of your finger. Step 6: Begin tying knots. Leave your blanket lying flat with all fringes lined up while you tie. All the knots should be snug up to the blanket but not too tight. The finished blanket should lie flat.
