MONTRÉAL WRITES Literary Journal Thank you for considering Montréal Writes for the publication of your original short stories, creative non-fiction, poetry, artwork and photography. We are delighted to have the opportunity to read and view your submissions, and promise that not a single one will go overlooked. There is no slush pile. Who are we? We are an online community for writers, poets, artists and photographers either based in, or currently studying in Montréal to share and showcase their creative talents. Founded in Montréal, our goal is to allow everyone and anyone s creative voice to be heard. How it works When you send us your work, it is absolutely certain that it will be read and considered for publication on our website. Once published, we will do everything we can to exhibit your work and spread it on social media (ie. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Our goal is to give you the recognition you deserve, and provide you with a platform to share, interact, and discover emerging artists. There are, however, some things we d like you to consider before sending us your work (See Submission Guidelines on p.3, 4, 5 & 6).! 1 of 7
A Few Things to Note A few things to note: - There is NO publishing fee, meaning you are more than welcome to submit as often as you d like. - We accept multiple submissions, but ask that you number them in the order in which you would like to see them published over an annual period. We d like to give all artists a fair chance to have their work published and appreciated. - We will not consider work that has appeared elsewhere, either in print or online. - In your cover letter, we ask that you specify whether your submission is exclusive to us, or whether you have submitted it to other magazines or journals as well. Montréal Writes guarantees the publication of your work, so we ask that you kindly withdraw your work if you choose to publish it elsewhere. If this is the case, please notify us immediately. - Please note we respond to all submissions by e-mail. Our average response time is within one - three weeks. Getting back to you is our top priority, and we ensure that we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can. - If you are using Hotmail or Gmail, be sure that e-mails from Montréal Writes do not get shifted into Junk or Spam folders. In order to prevent such a situation, be sure to list Montréal Writes as an approved sender. - All submissions are to be sent by e-mail to submit@montrealwrites.com, and are published with the intent of enriching our online community. For more information about publishing specifics, please see the official 2017 Submission Guidelines below (effective as of Jan. 1, 2017).! 2 of 7
