POST-SHOW REPORT GLOBAL PETROLEUM SHOW 50 YEARS IN THE MAKING - LOOKING FORWARD TO BRINGING TOGETHER THE GLOBAL ENERGY COMMUNITY FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS The 50 th edition of the Global Petroleum Show (GPS), North America s leading energy event, brought together over 51,000 thought leaders, influencers and professionals from around the globe. Officials from government, national and international energy companies and the entire supply chain convened to share innovative technologies and engage in complex and controversial discussions aimed to shape the future of the energy industry. For the last 50 years, Global Petroleum Show has experienced significant transformation alongside the evolving industry. The event has adapted to provide a bigger and better platform for key industry players to gather and engage in dialogue that reflects the state of the energy industry from pipeline disputes and rising oil prices, to environmental trends and geopolitical issues around the world. In 2018, GPS launched an inaugural three-day technical and business conference led by the GPS Executive Committee of twelve C-level industry players. The conference created a platform for conversations around critical issues including the important role of Indigenous groups, responsible hydrocarbon production and disruptive technologies. The conference included 64 technical sessions, three keynote presentations, three C-Suite Dialogues and seven business sessions. Over 500 conference delegates from around the world engaged in dynamic discussions regarding peak oil prices, oil shortage uncertainty, surging shale oil production, pipeline expansion and the need for greater market access. Of highlight were the seminars exploring the demand for transformative business models and technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and deep machine learning facilitated by some of the industry s most accomplished thinkers and innovators. An expansive 460,000 square foot indoor and outdoor exhibition, the largest energy showcase in Canada, provided a marketplace for visitors to make connections, conduct business and discover the latest equipment, technologies and innovations from more than 1,000 exhibiting companies. McMillan, President & CEO of CAPP (left) announced the annual Crude Oil Forecast for 2018, with production expected to increase to $5.6 million b/d by 2035. Fifty students aged 12-17 participated in the inaugural Young GPS program, where they spent an afternoon learning about new technological advancements from industry experts, in addition to taking part in scavenger hunt to explore the industry supply chain. 2
