1. APPLICATION This Specification document defines the optical, mechanical and electrical quality of a highdurability & high-efficiency LED T5 module, an IEC type 3 LED module to be assembled in professional lighting equipment or fixtures specified for indoor or outdoor lighting. Definitions, parameters and measurements are based on Pre-standard IEC/PAS 62717 Edition 1.0, 2011-04 where applicable. The module meets safety standard IEC 62031. 2. FUNDAMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS 2.1. 8. PRECAUTIONS 8.1. Safety Precautions: The specified product is NOT a Retrofit module for T5 Fluorescence Lamps and should NOT be inserted in standard fluorescent luminaires powered from the mains (i.e. 230VAC). Customer should validate the designated G5 lamp holders to ensure the suitability for the weight of the module. Do not look directly at the LED module for prolonged time without any adequate eye protection. Damage to the retina may ensue. 8.2. Driver compatibility: The specified product should be operated with Electronic Control Gear designed specifically for Constant Current Operation of LED modules. The customer is urged to ascertain quality and compatibility of the LED driver with the LED module prior to commercial launch of the final assembled solution. Consultation with the electronic control gear supplier is recommended. 8.3. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): LED modules are sensitive to static electricity and a high degree of care should be taken. If an over-current and over-voltage, that exceeds the absolute Maximum Rating, is applied to the module, the overflow of energy may cause damage or destruction. Customers are urged to take maximum precautions against static electricity and power surge when designing the light engine. A protective device should be designed-in the light engine driving circuit to avoid any power surge damaging or destroying the LED module during ON/OFF switch. Proper anti-esd equipment and process should be in place during manual/automated assembly of the LED module into the light engine.
