1 VT-27 Formation Script Cockpit Checklist (BOTH) o Input briefed VHF Tactical Frequency (123.47, 123.57, or 123.67) (BOTH) LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- One is ready to close canopy on VHF Tactical Frequency o WING: Roger, -Tac Call Sign- Two is closing the canopy. or -Tac Call Sign- Two needs minute(s). Will advise when ready. Engine Start Checklist (BOTH) Before Taxi Checklist (BOTH) o Skip calling Clearance Delivery. Initial contact with ATC will be on Ground (Channel 3) o Wing sets Transponder to Lead s Transponder Code o Wing keeps TCAS in Standby LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-, Check Victor. over VHF Tactical Frequency o WING: Two. over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over UHF Ground Frequency (Channel 3) o WING: Two. over UHF Ground Frequency (Channel 3) LEAD calls Ground for taxi: Navy Corpus Ground, Boomer and Boomer, flight of two, on line, taxi with Information. o LEAD replies to Ground: Boomer and Flight, taxi to the run-ups for runway via. TW-4 aircraft will taxi in a trail position. Trail is set by Wing taxiing directly behind Lead's aircraft, while maintaining no closer than 1 ship length from Lead. Wing will taxi with enough spacing to avoid a collision in the event of a brake failure. Lead shall position himself in the runup area with sufficient spacing to allow for hand signals and visual inspection for both aircraft. Wing should park abeam Lead, with nose wheel centered. DO NOT OVERLAP wings. Automatically complete the Overspeed Governor Checklist (BOTH) Automatically complete the Before Takeoff Checklist (BOTH) Integrity Checks (Cowlings secure, Panels secure, Proper strut extension, Tire inflation, Flap position (T/O), Antennas secure, No visible leaks, Lights set) (BOTH) WING: (Thumbs Up) o LEAD: (Thumbs Up) LEAD automatically switches to Boomer Base (Channel 19) and calls outbound: Boomer Base, Boomer, (Instructor) and (Student), and Boomer, (Instructor) and (Student), event Foxtrot, Outbound. LEAD switches back to Ground on UHF and calls Ground for further taxi: Navy Corpus Ground, Boomer and Flight, further taxi. o LEAD replies to Ground: Boomer and Flight, taxi to runway via. Both aircraft taxi in trail and 200 ft prior to hold short line automatically switch UHF to Tower (Channel 4) (BOTH)

2 LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over Tower Frequency (Channel 4) o WING: Two. over Tower Frequency (Channel 4) LEAD calls Tower for takeoff: Navy Corpus Tower, Boomer, flight of two, takeoff. o If given hold short instructions, LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, hold short. o If given line up and wait instructions, LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, hold short. Complete Lineup Checklist (BOTH) Wing leaves Transponder in Standby o If given cleared for takeoff instructions, LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, cleared for takeoff, Runway. Lead taxis to the center of the downwind side of the runway and holds. Wing taxis to the center of the upwind side of the runway and aligns leading edge of wing with trailing edge of Lead s horizontal stabilizer. o Wing leaves Transponder in Standby o Time the Nosewheel Steering in order to switch NWS OFF and achieve proper alignment LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, Runup Signal, Ready Pass, (PASS RUNUP SIGNAL) 1 2 3 Ready Look. o WING: Head nod to acknowledge. Increase torque to 30% (BOTH) Instruments Checked (BOTH) Integrity Check (BOTH) WING: (Thumbs Up) o LEAD: (Thumbs Up) LEAD: Wingman in Position, Runway Clear, Kiss Off (PASS KISS OFF SIGNAL) Lead commences normal takeoff Wing waits 5 seconds after Lead and then commences normal takeoff LEAD: Two positive rates, gear. Above 110 Flaps. Power back to 80, climb at 160. Gear up, Flaps up at. o Lead flies departure in accordance with course rules (no more than 30 degrees angle of bank) at 160 KIAS o Upon leveling out, set torque ~38% in order to maintain 160 KIAS WING: Two positive rates, gear. Above 110 Flaps. Gear up, Flaps up at. o Performs Running Rendezvous to join in Parade Position with Lead (do not exceed 200 KIAS) Tower instructs Lead and Flight to change to Departure on Channel 8 o LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, roger, switching Channel 8. -Tac Call Sign-, switch Channel 8 o WING: Two. over Tower Frequency (Channel 4) o Switch to Departure on UHF Channel 8 (BOTH) o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over Departure Frequency (Channel 8) WING: Two. over Departure Frequency (Channel 8) o LEAD calls Departure: Corpus Departure, Boomer, flight of two, level 500 feet off Navy Corpus, Course Rules, Foxtrot. LEAD replies to Departure (likely IDENT request): Boomer and Flight, IDENT

3 LEAD replies to Departure: Boomer and Flight, proceed course rules Foxtrot. (or as necessary in response to ATC) If Wing is in stable parade position, Lead resets torque to ~90% and climbs at 180 KIAS in accordance with course rules If Wing is not in stable parade position, Lead resets torque to ~80% and climbs at 160 KIAS in accordance with course rules Maintain parade position until turn towards Foxtrot working area, ½ wingtip distance northbound at 5500 ft MSL LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, Cruise Signal, Ready Pass, (PASS CRUISE SIGNAL) 1 2 3 Ready Look. o WING: Head nod to acknowledge. Lead increases torque to MAX and accelerates to 240 KIAS Wing obtains cruise position and accelerates to 240 KIAS Abeam KRKP, LEAD calls Departure: Corpus Departure, Boomer and Flight, abeam Rockport, Terminate. o LEAD replies to Departure: Boomer and Flight, frequency change approved. -Tac Call Sign-, switch Channel 22 WING: Two. over Departure Frequency (Channel 8) o Switch to Foxtrot Common Frequency on UHF Channel 22 (BOTH) o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) WING: Two. over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) o LEAD: 99 Foxtrot, -Tac Call Sign- Flight, anyone working area? over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) o LEAD: 99 Foxtrot, -Tac Call Sign- Flight claims area over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) Prior to entering the working area, Fence In: o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-, Fence In over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: Two. over VHF Tactical Frequency o Conduct Pre-Stall, Spin, and Aerobatics checklist and Operations Checklist (BOTH) o WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two, Good G, (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs) over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- One, Good G, (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs) over VHF Tactical Frequency o Lead calculates Joker setting to establish halfway point when first lead change should be conducted LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- Two, set new Joker over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: Two over VHF Tactical Frequency Within lateral boundaries of area, climb to 8,000 feet at 180 KIAS (Lead sets ~90% torque) and establish 200 KIAS upon leveling off Lead porpoises aircraft in order to signal Wing to rejoin in parade formation

WING: Head nod to acknowledge. o 4 Parade turns with minimum of 180 degrees per turn o Cross Under LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, Cross Under Signal, Ready Pass, (PASS CROSS UNDER SIGNAL) 1 2 3 Ready Look. WING: Head nod to acknowledge. o Break-Up and Rendezvous LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, B and R Signal, Ready Pass, (PASS B and R SIGNAL) 1 2 3 Ready Look. WING: Head nod to acknowledge. LEAD: Area Clear, Kiss Off (PASS KISS OFF SIGNAL), Stick, Break Lead and Wing perform Break Up Once Wing is in trail, WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two Ready over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD flashes to 45 deg Angle of Bank, pauses, and then holds 30 deg Angle of Bank Wing performs Rendezvous If Wing underruns, WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two Underrun over VHF Tactical Frequency (if IP directed): WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two, request back in over VHF Tactical Frequency o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- Two, cleared back in over VHF Tactical Frequency o Lead Change Procedure Ensure Wing is in parade position on right side. Conduct cross under if necessary. LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, Lead Change Signal, Ready Pass, (PASS LEAD CHANGE SIGNAL (pat helmet on right side three times with left hand while looking forward)) 1 2 3 Ready Look (and point left hand at Wing). WING: (pat helmet on left side once with left hand) I have Lead (and point left hand straight ahead). Conduct Lead Change ** Now LEAD and WING roles are exchanged between SMAs **

5 o New WING turns Transponder and TCAS to Standby New LEAD turns Transponder and TCAS to ON Set new Bingo to 420 for return to KNGP or KVCT (BOTH) LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-, Ops Check over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: Two. over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two, (report Max G s), (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs) over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- One, (report Max G s), (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs) over VHF Tactical Frequency Repeat Area Profile o If Bingo is reached before area profile is complete, LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-, Terminate over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- One, Terminate over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two, Terminate over VHF Tactical Frequency o Upon completion, conduct final lead change Original WING turns transponder and TCAS to Standby Original LEAD turns transponder and TCAS to ON Set new Bingo to ~250 for return to KNGP or KVCT (BOTH) o Prior to departing the working area, LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- Two, Move to Cruise, Fence Out, Pick up ATIS over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: Two. over VHF Tactical Frequency Wing moves to cruise formation Conduct Descent Checklist and Operations Checklist (BOTH) Wing automatically switches UHF to Channel 1 and copies ATIS, then switches back to UHF Channel 22 WING: -Tac Call Sign- Two, (max G s), (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs), standby to copy (ATIS information) over VHF Tactical Frequency LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- One, (max G s),, (fuel rounded down to nearest 10 lbs), ready to copy (ATIS information) over VHF Tactical Frequency WING: (winds), (altimeter setting), (runway in use) LEAD: Copy All Descend from working area to 5500 ft MSL direct to KRKP at 240 KIAS. Once clear of working area, o LEAD: 99 Foxtrot, -Tac Call Sign- Flight complete in area, departing to. -Tac Call Sign- switch 6 over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) WING: Two. over Foxtrot Common Frequency (Channel 22) Switch to Corpus Approach on UHF Channel 6 (BOTH) LEAD: -Tac Call Sign- over Approach Frequency (Channel 6) o WING: Two. over Approach Frequency (Channel 6) LEAD calls Corpus Approach: Corpus Approach, Boomer, flight of two, (current location), with information, course rules (Shiner, Shamrock, or as appropriate)

6 o LEAD replies to Approach: Boomer and Flight, proceed course rules. (or as necessary in response to ATC) Over KRKP, turn heading 225 Descend to 2100 ft MSL after south of Pt. Bravo Proceed direct GREGORY Corpus Approach will switch the Flight to Channel 12 o LEAD replies to Approach: Boomer and Flight, roger, switching Channel 12. -Tac Call Sign-, switch Channel 12 WING: Two. over Approach Frequency (Channel 6) o Switch to Approach on UHF Channel 12 (BOTH) o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over Approach Frequency (Channel 12) WING: Two. over Approach Frequency (Channel 12) o LEAD calls Approach: Corpus Approach, Boomer, flight of two, course rules. o LEAD replies to Approach: Boomer and Flight, proceed course rules. (or as necessary in response to ATC) Proceed normal course rules entry to Shiner or Shamrock or as appropriate After Gregory but before appropriate Initial Point (Shiner or Shamrock), smoothly slow to 200 KIAS and porpoise (or verbal call over VHF Tactical Frequency) to signal Wing to join in parade formation o Wing joins in parade position on the outside (corresponding to the direction of the break) o If necessary, Lead instructs Wing to perform Cross Under in order to ensure Wing is on outside for break Corpus Approach will terminate and switch the Flight to Navy Corpus Tower on Channel 4 o LEAD replies to Approach: Boomer and Flight, roger, terminate. -Tac Call Sign-, switch Channel 4 WING: Two. over Approach Frequency (Channel 12) o Switch to Tower on UHF Channel 4 (BOTH) o LEAD: -Tac Call Sign-. over Tower Frequency (Channel 4) WING: Two. over Tower Frequency (Channel 4) o LEAD calls Tower: Navy Corpus Tower, Boomer, flight of two,, full stop o LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, (as necessary in response to Tower) At Initial Point (Shiner or Shamrock), reduce power (BOTH) and descend to break altitude LEAD calls Tower: Navy Corpus Tower, Boomer and Flight, numbers for the break, o LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, (as necessary in response to Tower) LEAD: Wingman in Position, Area Clear, Kiss Off (PASS KISS OFF SIGNAL), Stick, Break Execute Three (3) Second Break o Lead executes 60 deg Angle of Bank break, at least 2 G pull o Wing waits 3 seconds after Lead breaks before executing normal break o Configure for Full-Stop Landing (LDG Flaps) (BOTH) LEAD calls Tower at 180: Navy Corpus Tower, Boomer and Flight, 180, gear down, full stop o LEAD replies to Tower: Boomer and Flight, cleared to land runway WING calls Tower: Dash Two, Gear Down
