Movie Review Template - EXAMPLE HEADLINE Include the title of the movie: Clash of the Titans (2010) By: Yore Naymheer Your review should start with an introduction, then a summary of the movie, then your analysis and finally your conclusion. Introduction PARAGRAPH #1: Introduce the movie by stating that you ve just seen this movie and would like to give an opinion about it. Mention a couple of details that might help the reader understand what type of movie you are talking about. If you like movies filed with action and adventure then Cash of the Titans is the right movie for you. This movie is based off of the 1981 Clash of the Titans original. The whole movie is based on ancient Greek mythology and is filled with creatures from the original stories. This movie is directed by Louis Leterrier who has also directed Transporter 1 and 2, and the Incredible Hulk, which are both very great movies. This movie takes you through the story of Perseus (Sam Worthington) and his adventures and tasks to save the humanity. Summary PARAGRAPH #2: Briefly outline the main elements of the movie (should involve who, what, where, when and why). Summarize the plot (story). Where and when did it take place (setting)? Who are the main characters? What is the story about? Remember, do NOT include spoilers and do not tell how the story ends! A young demigod named Perseus is found in the sea by a fishermen and his wife, and is raised a mortal life not knowing he is a demigod. Fishing off the coast of Argos his family is killed by Furies that are sent by Hades (Ralph Fienns). Perseus is then taken by the soldiers of Argos and brought to their king and queen. Hades then shows up threatening to release the Kraken if they do not sacrifice the princess. So Perseus then leads the remaining soldiers and a Djinn too attack all the monsters that come in their way to find and defeat Hades and the Kraken. Analysis - This section may be more than one paragraph. Critically state what you like and do not like about the movie. Explain your ideas with specific examples from the movie. (Action Boring; Character development; Suspenseful; Setting; Unusual Concepts; Language level Unrealistic; Message/Theme of the movie; Exciting dialogue; etc) PARAGRAPH #3: Talk about the actors/actresses and discuss who did a good job and who didn t. I think the acting in this film was very well done. I really enjoyed this movie because all the characters were really into their roles. I think that Sam Worthington did a very good acting job in this movie. He really put a wide range of emotions like happiness, sadness, and anger, also other things like exhaustion, and pain into his role as Perseus. Actor Liam Neeson (Zeus) did an ok job in my opinion, but I feel he could have done a better job. The reason I say he could have done a better job is because he hardly did anything in the movie other than talk to Perseus a couple times and that s about it. Ralph Fiennes did a pretty good job as hades. He was a very convincing role and seemed like he was devious and diabolical. Overall I feel like they could have done some things better but they did a pretty good job. PARAGRAPH #4: Talk about what you liked about the movie and what you didn t like. Be sure to

include specific details and scenes. There are lots of thing I really liked and disliked about this movie. My favourite part of the movie was when Perseus uses Medusas head to turn the Kraken into stone. This is my favourite part because I found it very smart movie wise, and I also found it very interesting how he uses her head to do that. I also like how well done the movie was. For example the movie effects were very well don t and a lot better than I thought it would be. I really disliked how so many characters that you start to know and like die. For example a couple characters die when they fight the scorpions, but the main characters die when they fight Medusa. But I found it even worse when Io died because she just gets stabbed in the back, and that is who I feel Perseus had the greatest connection with throughout the movie. PARAGRAPH #5: What lessons did you learn from this story (theme/moral)? What do you think others will learn from it? A lesson I learned from this movie is to overcome the bad things in life and try to move on. For example Perseus did not want to accept being a demi god because the gods are the reason his step parents died. So whenever people tell him or say he is a demi got he tells them I am not a god I am just a man. But later on he learns to except that he is a demi god and uses that to his advantage. Conclusion PARAGRAPH #6: What group of people would like this movie? Who would you recommend it to? Who would you not recommend it to? What s the MPAA rating of the movie (G, PG, PG-13, R, etc )? What is your final word on the film: Is it good or bad? I feel that the people that would watch Clash of the Titans are the people who enjoy Greek mythology and action movies. I think this because this is what the movies main focus is on. It is filled with action and adventure and is themed and based on Greek mythology. I would not recommend it to people who like more subtle movies or comedies because that is the opposite of what this movie is. In my opinion the MPAA rating of this movie is PG-13 because there is quite a bit of violence and monsters that younger children might be disturbed by. I thought this film was great and packed with action and adventure which I love. RATING SYSTEM Give the movie a score. You can do grades (A,B,C,D,F+ or -), stars (*** out of *****), numbers (3 out of 5) or something totally original just don t use thumbs up or thumbs down. I would have to rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
