Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring: Strand Woven bamboo floors are made using a unique manufacturing process that is different from all other bamboo flooring types by heating long strands of bamboo, and compressing them under extreme pressure. The Strand Woven bamboo manufacturing process produces flooring that is twice as hard than traditional bamboo flooring, which is already one of the hardest wood flooring products available. It is made with a non-toxic, water-resistant resin. It has a unique grain that is a mix between traditional wood floors and regular bamboo flooring. Please Note: Bamboo is a natural product and variations in colour and grain will occur. Product Information: Attachments Available with Tongue and Groove, and also Valinge 5G Click technology. Strand Woven Strength: Janka Rating "Hardness of Wood" The Janka hardness rating measures the pounds per inch (psi) density of a variety of wood flooring species. Denser floors have a higher density rating and are therefore harder to gouge or indent. In this system of measurement the pressure which is required to push a 11.28mm steel ball into the wood so it makes an indentation which is 100mm in diameter. This pressure is measured in pounds force (lbf) or kilograms force (KF) or newtons force (NF). Normal bamboo has a Janka Hardness Rating of 1,380 lbf whereas strand woven bamboo has a rating between 2,000 and 3,014 lbf. For the sake of comparison oak has a Janka Hardness Rating of 1,360 lbf and maple 1,450 lbf. Janka Hardness Rating:
Q: I would like to put down bamboo flooring. I was told that strand woven is the hardest bamboo there is. Is that correct? A: What you were told is correct; Strand Woven Bamboo is the strongest bamboo out there. What makes it so strong? The process used to make strand woven bamboo involves breaking the bamboo down into thinner strands rather than the slices used for normal bamboo flooring. These strands are then woven and bonded together under high heat and pressure creating the woven look of the flooring. Strand Woven bamboo is twice as dense and twice as strong as other bamboo flooring. This density also has an increasing effect on its benefits such as:» Sound absorption» Heat insulation» Insect resistance» Durability This makes strand woven bamboo a harder floor material than many traditional hardwoods. The great news for the environment is that people can stop chopping down forests to make hardwood flooring for their houses. Instead strand woven bamboo flooring looks like wood, is harder than many woods and is cheaper than hardwoods. Because bamboo is so quick growing we can consider it a renewable resource. Making flooring from a hard and durable renewable resource makes massive ecological sense. This allows the hardwood trees to perform their far more important duty of being the backbone of the forest, providing habitats for wild animals and allowing vital eco-systems to continue to flourish. This is crucially important when you consider that 1.5 acres of rainforest are lost every second. At the rate we are going all the rainforests will be lost in under 40 years.» Bamboo is very durable and has a long lifetime.» Bamboo flooring unlike a laminate floor can be refinished at least 5 times during its lifetime (sanded and sealed) which means it can potentially last a lifetime without having to worry about wearing down the thickness of the wear layer.» Bamboo Warehouse bamboo comes with a 25 year warranty.» Bamboo is extremely strong.» The strand woven varieties are considered to be harder than oak, maple and many Brazilian hardwoods.» Bamboo planks are made to be extremely strong to withstand a variety of weight from heavy foot traffic to heavy loads.» Bamboo is 3 times harder than Teak Testimonial: Our strand woven bamboo floor was installed 15 months ago. Despite our initial misgivings regarding durability, it is still beautiful and has survived the spills and splashes from the sink and dishwasher extremely well. It was obviously mopped up timeously and not allowed to stand. The dog has lost it on numerous occasions doing four-paw drifts around the corners to attend to urgent issues like feeding and getting outside to the gate fast. The floor has taken it in it s stride and while the noise generated is impressive, the scratches on the floor need serious inspection to be seen. I can recommend it with confidence in high traffic areas. There is no need to be neurotic, just sensible!
Maintenance & Care of Bamboo Floors: As with any solid wood or pre-finished product, maintenance is crucial to the longevity and appearance of your bamboo floors!!it is easy to care for Bamboo Warehouse solid bamboo flooring.
