With plenty f cuntertp space, pegbard, shelving, a drawer and large bin sized fr bags f ptting mix, all yur ptting and transplanting tls will be easily stred and ready t use. Hk a hse up t the PVC faucet setup and yu re ready t rinse vegetables r give yung transplants a cl drink f water. Yu can let the sink drain int a bucket underneath, r yu can hk up a length f hse and direct it away frm the bench fr a makeshift drain. This prject represents a fairly significant investment in time and materials, with a stainless steel bar sink, exterir-grade plywd and plumbing supplies. But it is simpler t build that it may appear, and the result will prvide years f gardening enjyment.

Begin assembling left side (plumbing side) in the fllwing manner: Install ne upper stretcher (G) flush with tp f frnt leg (D) and inset 1 ½" frm bth the frnt leg and back leg t allw fr the frnt and back tp stretchers (use a scrap blck f 2 x 4 and a framing square fr prper placement). Install lwer stretcher (F) 4" up frm bttm f legs and inset 1 ½" frm back leg and 1" frm frnt leg fasten with glue and 2" screws. Make sure the assembly is square befre prceeding t next step. 02 Build the right side in the same manner, except this side includes a drawer supprt (H), which is installed 4 ¾" belw the bttm edge f upper stretcher (G). Again, make sure everything is square and attach with glue and 2" screws. 03 Cnnect the tw end assemblies by attaching the tw back stretchers (B), keeping the tps flush with the tps f their crrespnding lwer stretchers (F). Use glue and 3" screws. 04 Install tp stretcher (C), keeping tp f stretcher flush with tp f back legs (A). Carefully drill pilt hles and use glue and 3" screws. 05 Install tp frnt stretcher (J) with glue and 3" screws, keeping tp flush with tp f upper stretchers (G) and face shuld be flush with frnt edge f frnt legs (D). GET MORE PROJECT PLANS AT www.yellawd.cm 5

Ptting Bench BUILDING STEPS 06 Mark center f bth back stretchers (B) and line up center f ne middle leg (E), keeping the tp f the leg 1 ½" dwn frm the tp edge f the upper back stretcher s that tp f upper stretcher (G) will eventually line up flush with tp f back stretcher (B). Attach with glue and 2" screws. 07 Install bttm frnt stretcher (I) t frnt edge f bth lwer stretchers (F), keeping tps flush. Use glue and 2" screws. 08 Hld ther middle leg (E) even with ne f the frnt legs and mark where frnt stretcher (I) will fall. Cut a ¾" deep dad fr the frnt stretcher t fit int, mark the center pints f bth the (I) and (J) and line thse up with the center pint f frnt middle leg (E). Attach t bttm frnt stretcher with 2" screws and glue. 09 The inside edge f the tp frnt stretcher (J) shuld fall acrss the center f the tp f the frnt middle leg (E), leaving abut ¾" fr bth the tp frnt stretcher and middle upper stretcher (G) t attach t the leg. Place middle upper stretcher n tp f the back and frnt middle legs (E) and attach with 3" screws. Drive 3" screws thrugh the frnt f the tp frnt stretcher and int the middle upper stretcher as well. 10 Attach the shelf (K) t the back legs (A), keeping bttm f shelf flush with bttm edge f tp stretcher (C). Use a cmbinatin square and clamps t help keep the shelf square and level. Use glue and 3" screws thrugh the back legs and int the shelf, and use 2" screws frm the back f the tp stretcher and int the shelf. GET MORE PROJECT PLANS AT www.yellawd.cm 6

Ptting Bench BUILDING STEPS 11 Install remaining lwer stretcher (F) t bth the middle back and frnt leg (E) with glue and 3" screws, keeping tp flush with back and frnt stretchers (B and I). Attach bttm shelf cleat (M) flush n the left (plumbing side) f the middle lwer stretcher (F) t help supprt undersink shelf (N). Cut the undersink shelf (N) and bttm (O) t size, ntching part (N) t fit arund back, frnt and middle legs. There shuld be at least a 3 8" gap between the tw bttm pieces t accept middle pegbard panel later n. Attach with glue and 2" screws. 12 Cut bin sliders (AA) and install t bttm (O) with glue and finish nails driven belw the tp surface f (AA). These sliders make it easier fr the heavy bin t slide in and ut f its appinted space. 13 Measure and cut the cuntertp (L) t size. Cut ntches t fit arund the back legs and keep a ½" t ¾" verhang frm the utside edges f bth the frnt and back legs as well as the frnt edge f the tp frnt stretcher (cuntertp shuld be flush with back edge f back stretcher). Lay ut the sink cutut where yu want it (yur sink shuld cme with a template t help yu); drill pilt hles inside the layut marks and finish the cut with a jig saw. Install the cuntertp with glue and 2" screws driven frm underneath parts J, G and B (yu ll have t drive screws at an angle in sme places, be careful nt t drive them thrugh the tp f yur cuntertp. 14 Cut all drawer and bin pieces t size. Apply glue t the ends f the end pieces (T and X, respectively) and clamp the side pieces (S and W) in place as shwn in detail illustratins. Drill pilt hles and attach with 1 ¼" deck screws.
