Mr. Van has represented a diverse number of institutional clients including JPMorgan Chase Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Bank of America, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, California Reconveyance Company, Ocwen Loan Servicing, Ocwen Federal Bank, FSB, Chase Home Finance LLC, various mortgage-backed securities trusts, trustees for collateralized debt obligations, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Inc., and Hewlett-Packard. Mr. Van is a member of the California State Bar, Orange County Bar Association, and Orange County Asian American Bar Association. Mr. Van has both lived and worked outside of the U.S., traveled extensively in 16 different countries, and speaks Cantonese and Japanese. Most recently, Mr. Van was a Shareholder with AlvaradoSmith, APC where he handled complex litigation, high risk/visibility cases, and appellate matters in addition to overseeing the Financial Services Practice Group. During his tenure at AlvaradoSmith, Mr. Van obtained numerous successful results for his clients through pre-litigation risk management and negotiations, pre-answer motions, dispositive motions, trials, and settlements. Prior to AlvaradoSmith, Mr. Van was a senior litigation associate with Houser & Allison, APC. At Houser & Allison, Mr. Van coordinated nationwide litigation for a large loan servicing company involving loan origination, servicing, credit reporting, foreclosure, title insurance, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Mr. Van started his career with Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP in San Francisco representing prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical manufacturers in coordinated actions in multiple states, and Multi-District Litigation federal actions involving
prescription and OTC drugs. While at Drinker Biddle, Mr. Van represented a large Silicon Valley consumer electronic products manufacturer in products liability claims and vendor disputes, as well as toxic material manufacturers in toxic tort litigation. Mr. Van received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2000. During his time at UCLA Law, he served as a Law Clerk in the Environment Section of the California Attorney General's Offices, was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program, and volunteered at El Centro Legal Clinic in Santa Monica, California. Mr. Van received his Bachelor of Arts in History degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996, with a Specialization in Asian American Studies. As an undergraduate, Mr. Van regularly volunteered as a counselor for UCLA Unicamp, a program devoted to providing underprivileged children and young adults the experience of nature through camping. Mr. Van also served as a Legal Intern for the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Special Litigation, in Washington, D.C. under UCLA's respected Center for American Politics and Public Policy program.
