42 nd Annual SENIOR ART EXHIBIT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Saturday, June 9-Saturday, July 7, 2018 The Grunin Center Gallery is open 8:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Friday 9:00am to Noon Saturdays when classes are in session The Gallery is also open during events at the Grunin Center IMPORTANT DATES RECEIVING DAY Wednesday, June 6 9:00am-Noon Artwork will be received at Ocean County College in the lobby of the Jay & Linda Grunin Center for the Arts (Bldg. #11, Parking Lot #2). All artists must complete the three tags included in this packet. RECEPTION/AWARD CEREMONY Friday, June 15 10:30am-Noon A reception will be held in the Grunin Center s gallery. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 10:30am and awards will be presented in the Theatre at approximately 11am. All participating artists are encouraged to attend. REMOVAL DAY Monday, July 9 10:00am-Noon All accepted artwork must remain for the duration of the exhibit and must be removed on the removal day. A signature will be required in order to remove artwork. NO EXCEPTIONS. AWARDS Ribbons will be awarded in both Professional and Non-Professional classifications in all categories. Placement awards will be first, second, third, and one honorable mention as determined by the number of entries per category. The judges decision will be final and announced at the Award Ceremony. Hart, Director ARTWORK CAN ONLY BE ACCEPTED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES: ELIGIBILITY_ Any artist, age 60 or over, currently residing in Ocean County, may submit one entry completed within the past three years. Entries may not have been previously entered in prior County Senior Art Shows or in the New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show. Eligible entries winning First Place at the county level are automatically eligible to advance to the State competition. Only one entry per artist is accepted on the State level. ARTIST CLASSIFICATION: PROFESSIONAL OR NON-PROFESSIONAL Professional: Artist who meets 2 or more of these qualifications: a) sells or has sold artwork through commercial channels (including galleries, online galleries, craft shows, art shows, etc.); b) has been exhibiting their work for 2 or more years in professional galleries and/or professional art exhibits; ** c) has had work selected in 2 or more juried art or craft shows; ** d) has received 2 or more awards for their artwork; ** e) holds (or has held) professional membership in an artists or craftsperson s guild or association. Non-Professional: An artist who does not meet 2 or more of the above criteria ** Exception: Artists who only enter their County Senior Art Show and who NEVER exhibit their artwork in any other show or venue do not have to identify themselves as a Professional Artist unless they have won First Place in their category multiple times in that case, they should identify themselves as Professional.

A $10 entry fee is required at the time of submission. CASH ONLY (exact change, please!) Hanging artwork, photos, or crafts, may be no more than 30 and no less than 10 in any dimension (including matting and framing). Sculpture or 3-D crafts may not exceed 20 in any dimension (measurements must include any base for the sculpture). Work should not exceed 40 pounds in weight. All artwork must be the original creation of the artist. No reproductions (including giclée or other digital copies) of original paintings or mixed media work will be accepted. No work made using kits or direct copies of another person s artwork will be accepted. Works must be delivered show-ready. Any 2-D work must be matted, framed, and wired (with screw eyes) ready for hanging. Paintings on canvas must be wired for hanging and the edges should be painted or finished. Works on canvas do not need to be framed. The 2-D artwork should be protected where necessary with plexiglas, mylar, glass, or other clear protective material. All 2-D work must be properly labeled on the back. All 3-D work should have the label lightly attached. Use of plexiglas or acrylic (instead of glass) is strongly recommended for 2-D work to avoid damage to artwork. Plexiglas is required for any 2-D pieces over 24 in any dimension. Any entry with a dollar value exceeding $400 must be privately insured by the artist either through their homeowner s or rental insurance or through their art rider. Every effort should be made to ensure that work is correctly categorized. Any work that is incorrectly categorized will be moved to the correct category (or risks being taken out of competition altogether) at the discretion of the administrators. No artwork entered in the Ocean County College Annual Senior Art Exhibit may be removed prior to Monday, July 9, 2018. On that day, all artists will be required to remove the artwork from the exhibition venue or give written permission to another individual for removal. LIABILITY Ocean County College will make every attempt to preserve, secure, and protect each entry however; the sponsoring organizations will not assume responsibility for loss or damage incurred. Entry in the show signifies agreement and compliance with this waiver. Each artist assumes full responsibility for his or her work at all times.
