Achieving the best results using the Stylus Office BX300F Make sure you select the correct driver and media settings. Select Text mode for printing high-quality text documents, or Photo for high-quality photos. Choose the correct paper settings - e.g. select 'Premium Glossy Photo Paper' for the best photo quality on glossy paper. To achieve high quality photo prints, it is recommended that Epson media is used. Choose the 'Borderless' photo setting to get true edge-to-edge printing without any white borders. This Epson printer includes a permanent Micro Piezo TM print head. This means that a head alignment should not be required during the set-up process. Page 2 of 19

Settings Shortcuts The Shortcut menu below can be used to make a quick and easy selection of the print settings required. When each printing preset is selected, a brief description of the setting is given (circled here in red). Driver Settings The driver settings can be controlled manually too. It is important to select the appropriate settings before printing, to achieve the best results. Start by selecting the Main tab in the driver. Text Printing Select Draft on the printer driver for economical high speed text printing. Select Text mode for printing high-quality text documents. Select Text & Image for printing high-quality colour documents with images. Photo Printing Select Draft mode for printing photo proofs. Select Photo mode for standard day-to-day photographic printing. Select Best Photo mode for high-quality photographic printing, such as album images. Media Settings Page 3 of 19

To get the best from an Epson printer, it is important to choose the correct media setting. This can be done by selecting the appropriate media from the drop-down menu (see image to the left). Watermark This function is of great help for the business user. You can choose from a selection of different watermarks (shown circled in red on the left), which will then be printed in feint across each sheet to denote the status of a particular document. Black Ink Only When printing text documents, by ticking the box (circled here in red) only the black cartridges will be used for true black and white printing, eliminating any use of composite black and reducing the use of the colour cartridges, whilst giving dense laser-quality black text. Software Epson Easy Photo Print Epson Easy Photo Print is a software which is included with all Epson inkjet printers. It offers easy-to-use functions such PhotoEnhance, red-eye removal and adding frames. To access, go to Start, All Programs, Epson Software and select Epson Easy Photo Print. Select the image then click on Next Step. This allows you to make a number of settings including Printer, Paper and Print mode. Epson PhotoEnhance When selected, Epson PhotoEnhance automatically adjusts colour and contrast to your photos to ensure perfect results. It is a default setting for printing photos on glossy media, however as you can see below, it can be turned off by clicking on the tick box. Before After Red-Eye Removal You can click on Fix Red-Eye All (Auto) (circled here in blue) for automatic red-eye removal. Please note that this function will not show a preview on your screen; however, the image will be printed without red-eye. You can also manually or automatically remove red-eye, with a preview, by clicking on the Image Correct button (circled in red). Page 6 of 19

Image Correct will take you to the screen shown here. You can then choose to remove red-eye manually (circled in Green) or automatically (circled in Yellow). PhotoEnhance PhotoEnhance can also be accessed via Epson Easy Photo Print as you can see below (circled in red). Once it is selected, you can then choose the preferred Scene Correction (circled in blue). With PhotoEnhance and Red-Eye Fix (Auto) selected, the image can be previewed before printing. Page 7 of 19

Epson Scan Epson Scan is a TWAIN Driver that can be accessed as a stand-alone desktop application or through a third party imaging program. It can be used for scanning documents and images and there are three modes. The first option is Home Mode (circled here in blue) which features scan settings such as automatic sizing and document type. This is ideal for advanced amateurs. You will be able to access Epson Easy Photo Fix (circled here in green) via this mode. It consists of Colour Restoration, Backlight Correction and Dust Removal. These functions can be used to restore colour, remove dust and correct backlight to damaged images. Another setting is Office Mode. This lets you quickly select settings for scanning documents. If preferred, you can preview the document before scanning by pressing the Preview button. It is convenient to use the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) when scanning multi-page documents. Simply select ADF from the Document source drop down menu (circled here in red), then press Scan. The ADF has a maximum capacity of 30 sheets. Page 8 of 19

You can also Scan one or more documents to PDF via this mode. To do this, select ADF, then press Scan. This window will pop up, then select the drop down menu for Type (circled here in red) and select PDF. The ADF will automatically detect multiple pages The third option is Professional Mode (circled here in blue) which allows complete user control of scan settings and advanced controls, such as histogram adjustment and tone correction. Other features include automatic exposure, multiple crop frames, densitometer and a document mode available for more advanced users. Images and documents can also be previewed first before scanning. As you scroll down, Epson Easy Photo Fix is also available in this mode. Preview Screen Page 9 of 19

The Epson Scan driver allows you to preview images or documents before scanning in both the Home and Professional modes. This can be done by pressing the Preview button and it is especially useful when using the colour restoration function as can be seen below. Scanning Multiple Images Multiple images can be scanned by placing them approximately 2mm apart on the scan bed (number of images will depend on the size). To do this, make sure that Thumbnail (circled in red below) is selected before proceeding. The image or images can then be previewed as you can see above and then scanned. These will automatically be saved into separate files. Page 11 of 19

Features PC-Free (Standalone) Functions Automatic Document Feeder You can use the automatic document feeder to scan, copy or fax multiple documents. To ensure a smooth work flow: - Make sure the edges of the documents are even - Insert the originals face-up and short edge first into the automatic document feeder - Slide the edge guide on the automatic document feeder as you can see on your Left (circled in red) - Once the documents have been inserted into the automatic document feeder, the printer will automatically detect this and switch the ADF mode on Faxing Before sending or receiving faxes, you can create a fax header by adding information such as phone number or name by doing the following: - Press the Mode button to enter fax status, then press the Menu button, scroll to option 5 Fax Settings, press OK - Select Option 1 Header - Input your header and press Ok (Use the numeric keypad to enter the header information, you can enter up to 40 digits) - Select Option 2 to input the number, press Ok, enter the phone number, press Ok Sending a fax: - Place the document on the scan bed or in the automatic document feeder - Press Mode button to enter fax status, enter fax number, press start - to send a black and white fax press the white start button, it will scan the document, save it to the memory and then dial the fax number and send it - to send a colour fax press the green start button, it will dial the fax number and send it, it will not save it to the memory The automatic document feeder can be used to send multiple documents. To do this, place the documents on the automatic document feeder (it will automatically detect this) and follow the instructions above Page 12 of 19

This is the default setting and can be changed if the Auto Reduction setting is turned off. It can be accessed via Fax Settings, Scan & Print Settings, Auto Reduction - To receive faxes manually, turn off Auto Answer mode by pressing the button - When the telephone rings, lift the phone off the hook - Press either Start button, when the fax has finished transmitting replace the phone on the hook Copying: Page 13 of 19

When using the copy function with the automatic document feeder, the print settings are fixed at zoom 100%, paper type-plain paper, and Paper Size A4. The printout is cropped if you copy an original larger than A4. If you want to make a copy quickly and do not need high quality, you can print using the draft setting. The print quality is reduced, but the speed increases. To do this you must: - Press Mode button to enter copy status, press menu button - Using the up and down arrows scroll to option 5 Quality, press ok - Choose between draft, standard and best quality, press ok To copy a document - Press Mode button to enter copy status - Set the number of copies using the up and down arrows or the numerical keypad -Press menu button and select the appropriate copy settings Page 14 of 19
