With experienced engineers, with advanced knowledge in FEA modeling and backed by state of the art software, ZEE Engineering Consultants are capable of undertaking Finite Element Stress analysis of complex structures. ZEE have performed various projects requiring complex FEA modeling to accurately verify stresses in structural components. ZEE has also assisted Installation Contractors to verify installation components stresses during the installation process using the FEA modeling techniques. ZEE provides a broad range of services in support of design and modifications of FPSOs, RIGs, Offshore Platforms, SPMs, Mooring Terminals and offshore floaters. ZEE uses a wide range of numerical modeling techniques and computer simulations to assist the offshore oil and gas industries to optimize design, minimize commercial risks and maximize safety.

ZEE Engineering Consultants have performed various analysis pertaining to mooring systems and risers for the offshore oil and gas industry. Backed by state of the art software tools, ZEE is capable of undertaking fully coupled, multi-body time domain numerical simulations of complex mooring systems. Analysis can be carried out in quasi-static and dynamic modes. With advanced knowledge of floating bodies, fluid mechanics and line dynamics, ZEE is capable of assisting Installation Contractors to perform deployment and recovery analysis of deepwater and shallow water operations. ZEE uses a wide range of numerical modeling and computer simulation techniques to assist the offshore oil and gas industry to optimize design, minimize commercial risks and maximize safety. ZEE also provides a broad range of services in support of design and installation of mooring terminals, FPSO modifications, process modifications, structural design of hulls and floaters and model testing.

Offshore platforms are typically designed using established design codes. Reliability analysis may be carried out as a second step, to ensure that the platform attains certain target probabilities of failure. Optimization of these structures is based on experience of the design engineer, and may often only be based on optimizing individual members. Normally, only the initial design, rather than ultimate strength criteria, is considered in the optimization problem. The failure and post-failure behavior of platform components, such as brace members and tubular joint connections, are modeled explicitly. ZEE Engineering Consultants has carried out numerous structural integrity audits on platforms which have exceeded the design life, but need to be operative with structural enhancement, using the pushover techniques. To conduct platform ultimate strength analyses to establish failure, the loading must be increased beyond that corresponding to the applied load. Thus, the environmental loading pattern is increased using incremental loads until the ultimate strength is reached. Beyond the peak load factor point, the strength will soften, either gradually or rapidly depending on the mode of failure and the behavior of the members and foundations. The term pushover analysis or sometimes collapse analysis is widely used within the offshore industry to describe three-dimensional, non-linear, large deflection, static finite element analysis. The horizontal forces on the platform structure, representing wave forces, are increased until structural collapse is reached.

Engineering design, construction and installation of subsea pipelines have been one of ZEE s main activities since the company was formed in 1986. Although many other engineering disciplines have since been added to ZEE s range of engineering services, subsea pipelines still constitute a major part of ZEE s activities. Primary emphasis has always been on pipeline design and installation technologies, needed by most clients for a cost effective completion and operations of pipeline systems in all environments. ZEE has designed and analyzed pipelines for various cost effective installation methods; surface tow method, control depth tow method, bottom tow method, conventional installation using Lay-barge method, to name a few. Recent years have seen the need to develop deepwater reserves. This need has resulted in the use of concepts based on floating structures. In particular the shipshaped structures such as FPSO s (Floating Production Storage Offloading) have seen an increased in popularity within the oil and gas industry.
