Regular Review Items ARB-2012-114: Comprehensive Sign Review for 5784-86 Three Notch d Road and Sam s Hot Dog Sign - Certificate of Appropriateness for a Sign and Comprehensive Sign Review (Tax Map 56A2, Section 1, Parcel 27) Proposal: To establish comprehensive criteria for signs for the building at 5784/5786 Three Notch d Road and to install a Sam s Hot Dog Stand wall sign. Regarding the Comprehensive Sign Review: Motion: Mr. Wright moved for approval of the following Comprehensive Sign Criteria for 5784-86 Three Notch d Road as recommended in the staff report, with future signs to be reviewed by staff. Regarding Sam s Hot Dog Sign: Motion: Mr. Wright moved for approval of the Certificate of Appropriateness for ARB-2012-114, Sam s Hot Dog Sign, as proposed with the following conditions. 1. Revise the sign drawing to indicate the fluorescent bulb wattage, the white fixture color and the use of the optional white cutoff visor. ARB-2012-17: Comprehensive Sign Review for Shopper s World Amendment - Review of Revisions to Comprehensive Sign Criteria - (Tax Map 61M, Block 12, Parcel 1C) Proposal: To revise the approved comprehensive sign criteria for Shoppers World to allow wall signs for buildings B, C and E to be composed of halo-lit channel letters on background panels. Motion: Mr. Wright moved for approval of the following Comprehensive Sign Criteria for ARB-2012-17 Shopper s World Amendment as recommended in the staff report. Other Business ARB-2012-130: Stonefield Building C1-2: Awnings Non-illuminated hanging tenant panel signs do not require ARB approval. The ARB viewed the awning samples and informally discussed the impact of the striped awnings on the Entrance Corridor. The ARB directed staff to check the plan that identifies which building elevations in the town center would be reviewed by the ARB. Staff indicated that the issue would be brought to the ARB for full review at an upcoming meeting. ARB-2011-93: Hyatt: Materials Staff reported that a revised brick color was approved for the Hyatt at Stonefield and the applicant is proposing an alternate material for the copper panels. After additional information is provided, the copper panel replacement will be brought to the ARB for review. Regal Cinema: Completion of work ALBEMARLE COUNTY ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD - PAGE 4
Staff informed the ARB that the Regal will be opening before all architectural elements/finishes are complete, but anticipated completion dates are being documented, as are measures to be taken if the deadlines are not met.
