COMMEMORATING THE HISTORIC SUMMIT HELD IN SINGAPORE All eyes are now on Singapore, for the much awaited historic summit between President of the United States Donald J Trump and Democratic People s Republic of Korea State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un, on 12 June 2018. The upcoming historic summit will leave an important footprint in the history of Singapore, recognized by the world as a platform where the significant step to world peace takes place. The medallions not only commemorate this momentous step to world peace, but mark Singapore s role as a neutral host, and an economic and security gateway between the East and the West. The obverse design of the medallion features an affirmative handshake between the two leaders, minted with high-relief minting technique, and the national flags of both countries. North Korea s national flag is depicted on the left, while the United States national flag is depicted on the right, aptly representing both countries position on the political spectrum. The national flags of the 1 oz 999 Fine Silver Medallion is in colour application, while the national flags of the ½ oz 999.9 Fine Gold Medallion and Base-metal Medallion are intricately minted. The scheduled summit date, 12.06.18, and the text Summit in Singapore is also minted on the obverse of the medallion. The reverse design of the medallion features a peace dove which embodies the significance of the summit to bring about world peace. The national flowers of the United States and North Korea, Rose and Magnolia sieboldii, are respectively featured on the medallion, interlaced with each other and in vibrant colours.
