David Mallen I began collecting in 1956 when letters cost 4d to post 1970s Visited the GPO every new issue to buy the stamps and get FDCs cancelled 1980s Concentrated on mint & used, then just mint, Australian stamps 1988-2012 Member of the Waverley Philatelic Society for 25 years 2004 Published my first ASV Catalogue June 2006 - February 2011 Spent over $24,000 in 5 years to write 57 monthly ASV articles for Stamp News Stopped collecting stamps on 20 December 2010 2011 - date I continue to publish ASV Catalogues and write books and articles
UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION 24th CONGRESS 2008 Philatelic Code of Ethics for the use of UPU member countries: 4.2 Issuing postal authorities shall take care to ensure that they issue stamps which help meet market demands..... They shall not saturate the market and thus drive philatelists and collectors away from the hobby. 8 Issuing postal authorities shall not produce postage stamps or philatelic products that are intended to exploit customers.

Collecting Decimal Australian Stamps G2.2.6 Cut-out stamps postage stamp designs and imperforated or semi-imperforated stamps are not valid for postage if they are cut from the original envelope, stationery or surround and affixed to any other postal article. What is an imperforate stamp? Imperforate or semi-imperforate stamps are designed as a collectable. You can still use imperforate stamps for postage, as long as they're posted in their original format. If they're included in a minisheet, they're valid for postage providing the minisheet is intact.
