Two Piece Chaise Install Process Carefully cut the original sling material to be replaced down the middle with scissors or a box cutter. Before beginning be sure to have the following items at hand: Chair Care Patio recommends spraying the chaise lounge rails with watered-down dish soap. This makes it a little easier to slip the fabric out of the chaise rails. Step 1 Remove the End Caps Carefully remove all the end caps from the chaise lounge frame using a flat head screw driver. Be very careful when removing the end caps. They will likely be brittle and break easily. In the event that a few of your end caps break during removal, ChairCarePatio.com offers many replacement end caps for purchase on our website. Crack the existing material by grasping it with both hands and pushing the material into the sling rail. Overtime the existing sling material hardens and sometimes glues itself to the chaise rails. This process helps break the bind and allows the existing sling material to be removed from the rails much easier. Step 2 Remove the Old Sling Material 1

Remove the hardware attaching the chaise back to the bottom. Remove the chaise back completely from the frame. Be sure not to lose the hardware as it will be needed during reinstallation. Use one hand to detain the chaise lounge frame and pull the sling material out of the chaise rails using pliers or your free hand. Using quick, sharp pulling gestures is the best way to remove the old fabric. Remove the existing sling material from both the top and bottom chaise pieces. Step 4 Insert Sling Spline Insert the sling spline into the seam of both the top and bottom replacement chaise lounge slings. Step 3 Remove Chaise Back 2

For thicker fabrics, it may help to lay the material on a table while opening the seam with your hands before inserting the spline. This will allow the sling spline to slip through the seam with less effort. opposite rail as it will be necessary for installation. Trim the excess spline from the replacement sling material. Be sure to leave an inch or so of spline on each end to ensure that the spine does not get lost within the fabric during installation. The excess spline will be removed later in the process. Note: Most chaise backs have a square frame that is seated in between the two rails of the chaise back. The following instructions will detail the process of installation for this type of chaise. However, all outdoor patio furniture is constructed differently. These instructions should be used as a general guideline for installation. Chaise Back Installation Step 5 Disassemble Inside Chaise Back Frame Start by disassembling the inside frame on the chaise back. Begin by removing hardware from ONLY ONE SIDE of the chaise back using a wrench/ratchet. It is important to leave one side of the inside frame attached to the Step 6 Insert Replacement Sling Material in to Chaise Back Insert the replacement sling material into both chaise back rails. Be sure to keep the Chair Care Patio tag at the top as this differentiates the top and bottom of the sling. Use one hand to pull the fabric through the chaise back rails while guiding the fabric through the opening with the other. 3

Step 7 Reassemble Chaise Back In order to get the inside frame in between the two rails, a flathead screwdriver will have to be used. Chair Care Patio highly recommends wrapping tape around the flat head screwdriver to avoid scratching the chaise lounge rails. Insert the flat head screw driver in between the frame and the loose rail of the chaise back. Pry the screwdriver with one hand and use the other to apply pressure to the inside frame. Sometimes it s helpful to have two people and two screwdrivers prying at the same time during this process. The thicker the replacement sling material, the trickier this step will be. In the event that the holes in the inside frame to do not match up with those of the chaise rails after installing the inside frame, use a rubber mallet and lightly tap the inside frame in the desired direction. Step 8 - Tighten Chaise Back Detain the inside frame with one hand and finger tighten the bolts with other. Be sure that 4

that the bolts are threaded securely before letting go of the inside frame. Trim all excess spine from the ends of the chaise rails. In some instances the chaise back rails will need to be turned inward to allow the bolt to thread properly. In this situation, use a crescent wrench to slightly turn the chaise rails inward while attaching the hardware. Be careful not to scratch your frame. (Note: To prevent scratching of your chaise frame, wrap the insides of the crescent wrench with tape as a layer of protection.) Carefully replace the end caps. Remember, if any end caps break during re-installation, Chair Care Patio offers many replacement end caps on ChairCarePatio.com. Once all bolts have been securely threaded, proceed to tighten all bolts on the chaise back. Chaise Bottom Installation Step 9 Disassemble Chaise Bottom 5

Completely loosen and remove all bolts from ONLY ONE SIDE of the chaise bottom and remove the rail. Do not remove the opposite chaise rail. Instead Chair Care Patio recommends backing the bolts out as far as the threads will allow without completely removing the bolts. This allows for about one inch of separation between the chaise rail and the frame that will be crucial to installation. Chair Care Patio recommends starting the bolt at the end of the chaise frame and working inwards. Finger-tighten all bolts. Step 10 Insert Replacement Sling Material in to Chaise Bottom Rails Insert the new replacement sling material into both rails of the chaise bottom. Be sure that the material lines up at the end of the rails to ensure a square fit. Step 12 Tighten Chaise Bottom Once all bolts have been started, slowly tighten each bolt using a wrench/ratchet. Chair Care Patio recommends alternating between bolts on opposite sides of the chaise frame until all the bolts are tightened securely. Alternating back and forth between bolts helps keep the pressure distributed evenly on the bolts while tightening as well as reducing the risks of stripping the bolts. Step 11 Start Chaise Bottom Bolts With one chaise rail still attached, start a bolt into the opposite side of the chaise frame. 6

Once all the bolts on both sides of the chaise bottom have been securely tightened, remove all excess sling spline and replace any removed end caps. In some situations, the chase back rail will need to be turned inward to allow the holes in the chaise back rails to line up with those on the chaise bottom. Use a crescent wrench to turn the rails inward while attaching the hardware with your free hand. Be careful not to scratch the frame while using the wrench. Tighten all hardware at this time. Step 13 Reattach Chaise Back to Chaise Bottom Attach the chaise back frame to the bottom frame using existing hardware and tighten. This completes the installation. 7

Chair Care Patio tries to make it easy for anyone to replace their worn outdoor patio furniture slings. However, the difficulty varies among installations. These instructions should be used as a general guideline for installation. Please be advised that, as with any installation/repair, damage or injury may occur. For this reason, Chair Care Patio advises that a professional be sought whenever possible. 8
