Amazon Money Maker In this training, I m going to show you how to use the Amazon affiliate program to make money online. The training consists of three sections. In Section 1, I ll tell you how to find products and keywords. Section 2 will cover creating your affiliate site, and Section 3 will explain how to get traffic and conversions. Let s begin with Section 1. 2

Section 1 - Amazon Heat Seeker Before you can start making money with Amazon, you have to find products to market. Amazon is a great place to conduct product research. You can go on the site to find out how much something costs, what it s rated and what type of reviews it has. If something has a good ranking, positive reviews and costs enough for you to make money off it, you know you have a good product. With that in mind, you need to find products that meet a certain set of standards. Star Rating Only choose products that have a three and a half star rating or above. That means it s a quality product so you ll get lots of conversions. Reviews Next, you only want to choose products that have at least ten reviews. All of those reviews need to be positive. People typically read the reviews before purchasing a product. If you market products with great reviews, there s a good chance people will buy them. Cost When you first start out with Amazon, you will make a 4% commission on sales. As you make sales, your commission amount will increase. However, in the beginning, you should market products that cost at least $250. That will guarantee you make at least $10 per sale. 3

Finding Products Go to Amazon.com and click Full Store Directory? A list of categories will come up. You can click on any of the categories. I m going to select Camera, Photo and Video. Then, I m going to select Points and Shoots. Now, I need to set my filters. Different filters are located on the left hand side of the page. First, I need to set price. I need to set the minimum price at $250 and click Go. Then I need to select the star rating of three stars and up. Now, I can look through the products and see the rating and price. I can also see the number of reviews. Once I find a product I like, I need to click on it and open up a Word document. I need to put all the relevant information inside of the document, such as the name, link, price, rating and reviews. Take some time finding products you want to market. Then, you ll be ready to conduct your keyword research. 4

Keyword Research You want to target buyer keywords. That means you want to find the keywords that people will search for when they re looking to buy your product. Let s say you re selling a digital camera. If you used the keyword digital camera, you d get all kinds of traffic, but it wouldn t be targeted. You would get some people who were ready to buy, while others would just be doing research. The key phrase buy digital camera would be better, since it would attract people who are actually ready to buy a camera. However, it s still not targeted enough. It would be even better to include the model number or name into the key phrase. Scroll down to Product Details on your Amazon page and copy the model number. Then, use the specific camera name as you keyword. You can include the word buy or just use the model name. Then, go to Google and put quotations around the keyword and conduct a search. That will tell you how many websites use that keyword. You want to find keywords that have 80,000 or less results. Next, you need to go to the Google Keyword Tool. 5

Once there, type the keyword into the tool. It should be the same phrase you just typed into Google. Click Search. Then, go to the left hand side and select Exact under match type. Then, scroll down to your keyword and look at the number of search results. It needs to have at least 750 exact search volume matches. If your keyword doesn t have very many monthly search results, you ll need to find a better phrase. You can do that by going through the results provided by the AdWords keyword tool. If you find a keyword that you like, copy it and go back to Google. Search for that keywords to see how much competition it has. It s important to note that you might have to use keywords that are less specific than the brand and model number. For instance, if you have a Canon PowerShot, you might have to drop the model number and use PowerShot instead. When you search Google for your keywords, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look at Google s recommend searches. Select a couple of those and put them into the AdWords keyword tool. These keywords are considered LSI. They don t need to have the same statistics as the other keywords, meaning they don t need to have 750 searches. Once you find your keywords, you ll be ready to move on to Section 2. 6

Section 2 Create Your Amazon Affiliate Website Now you re ready to create your website. You ll use this site to promote your products. Setting Up Your Site In order to set up a website, you are going to need a domain address and a hosting plan. Your domain name will be your URL. Your hosting plan will keep your website up and running. Getting Your Domain While there are lots of places that sell domains, I recommend using NameCheap. Once there, you ll see a search box. Type an idea for your domain into the search box. The idea should be related to your business. For example, if you re in the weight loss niche, you can search for ideas like WeightLossSecrets. 7

When you search for a phrase, you might notice that the.com extension isn t available, but.me or one of the other extensions is available. I recommend going with the.com. Thus, if the.com isn t available, look for a new domain name. Once you find a domain name you want, click Add to Cart and purchase the domain. Then, you ll be ready to sign up for hosting. Get Your Hosting Plan You can host your website with a variety of companies. I recommend using HostZilla. Go to HostZilla and click Sign up Now. Then, you ll need to choose your plan. You can sign up for the Starter Plan. Just find the plan and click Order Now. Then, you ll be able to purchase a domain or transfer your domain. You should already have a domain with NameCheap, so you will need to transfer your domain. Thus, you ll need to use the Transfer My Domain box. Select I ll Update my DNS Settings. Then, type the domain name in and click Continue. Next, you ll need to enter your billing information and select the payment plan. Look through the extras that are checked and remove the domain privacy, since you ll get it for free when you purchase a domain name from NameCheap. Finish filling the form out and then click Continue. Then, HostZilla will email you with your account information. The email will include your name servers. You ll 8

need to input those servers into your NameCheap account. Once you do that, your domain name will point to your hosting account. Updating Your Name Servers in NameCheap Sign into your NameCheap account and click on Domains. Then, select Manage Domains. Select the correct domain and then click Transfer DNS to Webhost. Then, put your hosting information into the boxes and save your changes. Once you do that, your NameCheap domain will point to your hosting account. Using Your Hosting Account Go to your cpanel and log into your hosting account. HostZilla will send you a link to the cpanel in your welcome email. Once you log into your hosting account, you can create an email account. Just click Email Accounts and create a professional account. 9

After your email account is created, you can start adding files to your website. Go to File Manager and select the website. Then, you ll go to a new page, where you can upload files for your website. You can also go to your cpanel and click on the link that says Set up Your FTP. Once there, you will need to download and install FileZilla. Then you ll be able to log in remotely and transfer files. Once you install FileZilla, you will need to open it up and type in your website address, username and password. Next, you ll need to select Quick Connect. Then, it will pull up your website so you can add files. If you aren t comfortable adding files to your website, post a job on Elance. You can find someone to build your site for you. That will make the process much easier. Adding WordPress to Your Website After your site is up and running, you can add a blog to it. You can use your blog for a variety of purposes. First, of course, you can use it as a traditional blog. You can also use it to create a Members area. Additionally, you can use it to post reviews for your affiliate products. Just log into your cpanel and scroll down to the Fantastico De Luxe icon and click on it. 10

Then, select WordPress and click New Installation. Next, select your website and add a new directory. That way, your blog will show up as a new page on your website. You can name the page anything you want, but make sure the name is related to the blog s purpose. For example, if you re going to use the blog as a member s area, name the page Members. Fill out the rest of the form and then click Install WordPress. Fantastico De Luxe will install WordPress for you. Once it s competed, click Finish Installation. You ll be taken to a new page. Enter your email address. Your installation information will be sent to this email address. You ll also receive a link to the control panel. Click on the link and log in to your blog s dashboard. Spend some time familiarizing yourself with the blog s features. Also, if you have experience with creating blogs, you can set your blog up. Simply install a theme and customize your pages. However, if you aren t familiar with the process, hire someone on Elance to do it for you. Once the blog is up, create your first post. Then, you ll be ready to add pings and perms. They will help you get a lot more traffic to your posts. Pings and Perms Pings and perms will help you get more traffic to your site. First, you need to change your permalinks. Go to Settings and select Permalinks. Click Post Name. Then, the link will show up as your post name. Click Save Changes. Next, you want to add your ping sites. Every time you update your blog, you can alert a bunch of sites. That will send a lot more traffic your way. Go back to Settings and click Writing. 11

Scroll down to the bottom and find Update Services. Delete what s inside of the update services box, and paste ping sites into the box. You can find a big list of ping sites at http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/424529- list-ping-sites.html. Customize Wordpress Plugins allow you to enhance your WordPress site, and you don t need to have any programming knowledge to install or use them. Click on Plugins from the left hand menu. Once you do that, you ll find a few plugins that are already installed. Click Activate next to the plugins you want to activate, and then follow the steps for activation. After you activate your current plugins, you ll be ready to look for new ones. Click Add New underneath the plugin menu. Then, type Broken Links Remover into the search box. This plugin will email you if a link is broken on your site. This will help you keep your site optimized before your search engine ranking is impacted. 12

Click Install now next to the plugin. Then, click Activate. Go back to the search box and search Contact From 7. This plugin will allow you to put a contact form on you site. Install and activate that plugin as well. You ll also want to add the following plugins: Google XML Sitemap Platinum SEO Pack Search Terms Tagging After you add your plugins, you ll be ready to move down to the next section. 13

Section 3 Traffic and Conversions Now, I m going to show you how to get traffic and conversions. Let s begin by looking at product reviews. You ll need to create a review in order to get traffic and conversions. Create your Product Review A review site is a great way to get conversions. You can get most of your review right from Amazon. All you re going to do is look at the product page, go to the bullet points, and repurpose the content. When all is said and done, you ll only have to write about 100 words. Those 100 words will go at the beginning of your post. Your actual post will be around 750 words, but 650 of those will come directly from Amazon. Go to your product page on Amazon and then open up a Word Document. Put your title in your Word document. The title should include your keyword, and it should make it clear that the post is a review. Then, scroll down to the Technical Details section of your Amazon product page and copy the bullet points. Paste the bullet points into your Word document. Next, go back to the product page and scroll down to the Product Description. Copy the description and paste it into your Word document. Then, go through and get rid of any information you don t need. Remember, you want to keep the review around 750 words, so you might have to do some deleting. You will probably also have to do some formatting. Also, reorganize the content so it won t be viewed as duplicate content. That means you need to shift the paragraphs around a bit. Next, go to the bottom of your Word document and type Customer Reviews. Then, copy a review and paste it into your Word document. Depending on your word count, you can paste multiple reviews. 14

Finally, you ll need to write your 100 word original copy. This copy will go at the beginning of the post. It needs to include a keyword at the beginning, and should introduce your review. For instance, if you re trying to sell a Canon s100 camera, your copy could read: If you haven t used the Canon s100, then you truly do not know what it is that you are missing out on. For years, Canon has been producing quality products affordably that have helped people capture those special moments in their lives. In this review, I m going to specifically show you how and what this model does and has so that nothing is left out and you know EXACTLY what it is that you re getting with this product. Take a look at these specs! They re crazy good for what you re getting in this camera at a ridiculously low price. Whether you re an experienced photographer or just starting out, I guarantee you ll love this camera. Add Post to Wordpress Now, go to Wordpress. Click on Pages and select Add New. Copy your word document and paste it into the text box on Wordpress. Then, go to Amazon and find your product image. Save it to your computer. Go back to WordPress and click Upload/Insert. Add the image. Make sure everything is formatted properly and then click Publish. 15

Finishing Touches Now, there are a couple of things you need to add to your site. First, upload a privacy policy. You can find a zipped privacy policy in the videos that go with this course. It s called Easy Privacy Policy and it works with Wordpress. Next, you need to get your contact form ready. Go to Contact and click on the plugin. Make sure the email address is correct. Then, copy the code that s underneath the heading Contact Form 1. Then, go to Pages and click Add New. Paste the code into the text box. Then, write Contact Us into the title. Click Publish. Next, you want to create an About Me page. This will put a personal touch on your site and help you gain some trust with your visitors. Go to Pages and select Add New. Put About Me into the title. Then, write a little bit about yourself. You can also include a picture if you want. Then, publish the page. Finally, you have to add a disclaimer. This is required by Amazon, so don t skip this step. The disclaimer should read: YourSite.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Put this disclaimer in the header or footer. Go to Appearance and click Widgets. Add the text widget and paste the disclaimer into the text box. Then, title it Disclaimer and save it. Now, it will be on the side bar of your site. 16

On Page SEO Earlier, you installed the Platinum SEO plugin. The plugin takes care of a good amount of your SEO work. Still there are a few things you need to do. Click on Platinum SEO and make sure there are keywords in your home title and home keywords. Then, click Update. Next, go to Settings and click General. Make sure you have a keyword in the site title. Then save your changes. Next, go to appearance and select Widgets. Slide Pages over to your sidebar. For the title, put in your keyword. Next, slide the Recent Search Terms plugin over to your sidebar. Then, click Save for both plugins. Then, go to your first post and make sure your keyword is in your first sentence, and it s in bold. If it isn t, edit your post and make the necessary changes. Also, you want to make sure your image s alt tag has the keyword in it. If it doesn t, click Edit and make those changes. Next, you need to have a keyword as anchor text. That means you ll hyperlink the keyword. If someone clicks on the keyword, they ll go to a new link. Add it into the body of your post and then use the menu to put a link in. You can actually link back to the same page. When you do that, the person will go to the top of the page, where they ll find a Buy button. I ll show you how to up that button in shortly. Next, make sure your keyword is in the last paragraph of your product review. It needs to be in italics. Also, include keywords in the Description and Keyword sections for Platinum SEO pack. Finally, make sure your keyword density is 3% for the page. That means that 3% of all of your words needs to be keywords. 17

Monetize Your Site First you need to sign up for your Amazon Associates account. Go to https://affiliateprogram.amazon.com/ and click Join Now for Free. Follow the steps to sign up with Amazon. Wait for approval, and then log in with your affiliate information. Then, go to your product page and click Link to This Page. Click Text Only and highlight the HMTL and copy it. Now, you have your unique affiliate URL. Then, go back to Wordpress and click on Pages. Click Edit next to your product review. Go down after your introductory paragraph and type in two equal signs and a triangle. It should look like ==>. Then, type CLICK HERE TO GET THE DEAL. Then type the two equal signs and triangle again. Then, highlight it and center it. Make it a Heading 2. Next, click the link button and paste the affiliate URL into the text box. Use your keyword for the title. Check the box to open the link in a new window. Then, click Add Link. Copy the button and put it on the bottom of the page as well. Then, make one of your keywords a clickable link. Send it to your affiliate page. Finally, you need to add a banner to your sidebar. Log into your Amazon affiliate account and click on Links and Banners. Select Banner Links. 18

Your sidebar is about 250 pixels wide, so you want to find a banner that will fit that. Scroll through banners to find one that will fit. Once you find one, copy the iframe code and go back to Wordpress. Go to Appearance and select Widgets. Drag a text box over to the sidebar and then paste the code into it. Once you do that, you ll be ready to start promoting your products. You can start driving traffic to your site and making some conversions! 19
