THE SPANISH CASE STUDY POPULATION AFFECTED BY CASE STUDY ALZIRA (capital): 44,750 inhabitants. ALGEMESÍ: 28,300 inhabitants CARCAIXENT: 20,700 inhabitants. TOTAL: 93,750 INHABITANTS

STATUS BEFORE ECOTALE We had the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans of the three largest cities of our region: Alzira, Algemesí and Carcaixent. We didn t have the Regional Mobility Plan

WITHOUT REGIONAL PLAN PROBLEMS we didn t know our: Priorities. Problems. Best actions to improve the situation. A guide for our decision makers was needed.

LOCAL POLICY CONTEXT NATIONAL: Spanish strategy for Sustainable Mobility (EEMS). 2009. REGIONAL: Regional Mobility Law of the regional government (6/2011): Mobility plans and parking regulations. GUIDES: Practical guide to development and implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (IDAE).

LOCAL POLICY CONTEXT

INTERNALIZATION MEASURES Creation of an easter bypass. Increasing the number of regional bus stops. Increasing the frequency. Increasing the number of buses powered by fuels cleaner than diesel. Operating and information systems (GPS). Creation of a cycling network that links Algemesí, Alzira and Carcaixent. Construction of a bike lane parallel to the mentioned proposed bypass. Etc.

INTERNALIZATION MEASURES

STAKEHOLDERS The mobility law of the Valencian Regional Government (LEY 6/2011, de 1 de abril, de la Generalitat, de Movilidad de la Comunidad Valenciana) indicates that it is necessary to plan public participation process for all the mobility plans. Public participation forum have been organized by MANRA for the Regional Plan in Alzira, in January.
