Many peple have a very lud inner vice that is trying t tell them they can t play an instrument. Nthing will still that vice faster than just playing. Strum and Pluck. Strum all the strings at nce and while the strings are still ringing, pluck a series f single ntes at randm. Ntice hw all the strings sunding frm the first strum prvide a nice fundatin fr the individual ntes. Experiment with this idea. Explre hythm. Pluck strings at randm until yu stumble upn a rhythmic pattern that yu like. Pay mre attentin t the rhythm than the ntes yu are playing remembering that any nte will sund OK. Ntice if the rhythm wants t change ver time. et it change. Just be with the rhythm and fllw wherever it ges. Explre Meldy. Sit quietly and pluck strings randmly until yu hear a phrase r cmbinatin f ntes that sunds like a pleasing meldy. Try t repeat what yu just played. See hw the meldy wants t be and hw yu respnd t it. See hw it changes ver time. Maybe yu change it n purpse r maybe yu hit a wrng nte but feel like the wrng nte is better... Mix it up. Cmbine any f these ideas tgether. Find a meldy and then change the rhythm. Find a rhythm and then change the meldy. Add a full strum int a meldy r rhythm. Use a Sngsheet. Using Sngsheets 1. Take nte f which tuning is shwn n the sheet, and make sure yur harp is tuned the same. 2. Slide the sng sheet under the strings with the nte names nearest the tuning pins, as shwn. 3. Carefully line up the ntes n the paper with the crrect strings n the instrument. 4. If yu use these sng sheets with patients in a hspital, yu shuld have them laminated with a plastic cating s yu can easily clean them with sanitizing wipes between patients.
