NORTH DAKOTA NAWCA PROJECTS $54,280,370 $75,887,733 75 1,639,060 NAWCA GRANT AMOUNT TOTAL PARTNER CONTRIBUTION NUMBER OF PROJECTS TOTAL ACRES North Dakota currently has 75 NAWCA projects either completed or underway. These projects have conserved a total of 1,639,060 acres of wildlife habitat. NAWCA funding of more than $54.2 million stimulated partner contributions of over $75.8 million. These figures do not include multi-state projects. CHASE LAKE AREA WETLAND PROJECT X This proposal is phase 12 of an ongoing project designed to protect, restore, and enhance wetland/grassland communities and uses a landscape level planning approach. Although many of these wetlands have been protected, much of the surrounding prairie uplands have been converted to agricultural use. The project will protect 33,039 acres through fee title, lease, and easement acquisition, as well as restoration and enhancement activities. The Prairie Pothole Region annually produces 60-70% of the continent's grassland nesting (mallard, northern pintail, gadwall, blue-winged teal, northern shoveler, American wigeon, and green-winged teal) and over-water nesting (redhead, canvasback, and ruddy duck) species of waterfowl, which will benefit from this project.
