KOPOS (KOsovo POsitioning System) ANALYSIS IN THE TESTING PHASE Murat Meha Muzafer Çaka Reshat Murati 3 CROPOS Conference, Opatija, 24-25 October 2013 1

Chronology of system development Owner of the system: KCA Initial research (2005): BSB Detailed research and technical specifications (2009): GIZ Approval of technical specifications (2010): KCA Project funds: World Bank RECAP Project Project implementing company: Leica Geosystems AG Project implementation monitoring: KCA supported from GIZ Launch: November 2012 2

Position of KOPOS Permanent Stations Designed to incorporate the reference stations from neighbor countries: ALBPOS Albania, MONTEPOS Montenegro, MAKPOS Macedonia and AGROS Serbia. 3

This image cannot currently be displayed. REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO GNSS equipments and antenna at the Permanent Station GNSS antenna Interior Design of Cabinet Antenna and the receiver are able to receive all available signals GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO 4

System Monitoring and Administration For monitoring and administration of System software package from Leica is used: GNSS Spider, SpiderWeb, Spider Business Centre SBC, SpiderQC SBC - User administration GNSS Spider Monitoring of satellite trucking 5

Determination of KOPOS coordinates For processing of the KOPOS stations Bernese GPS Software v5.0 is used (Leica Geosystems, 2012b). GPS L1/L2 and GLONASS L1/L2 observations were provided 30sec data rate. 29 points of the First Order Referent Network Kosovaref01 realized in 2001 and the same time have been surveyed during the determination of KOPOS (Kosovaref01) in 2012 (ETRS89; ETRF97) The difference between present KOSOVAREF01 and new KOPOS in the realizing geodetic control points 1. order is smaller than 30 mm in plane position < 10 mm excellent matching of the 6 points, < 20 mm very good matching of the 14 points, < 30 mm good / sufficient matching of the 7 points, > 30 mm we consider not well matching for 2 points. 6

KOPOS Services RTK - internet (GPRS) and GSM RINEX Service Virtual RINEX Service Online Coordinate Computation Service Type of service Description Accuracy level DGNSS Low accuracy in real time (RTK Code) 0.3 0.5 m RTK High accuracy in real time (RTK Phase) 0.02 0.04 m RINEX High accuracy (Post processing Phase) <0.01 m 7

Statistics of RTK KOPOS usage 40 35 85 registered users 65 are the RTK users 245,000 minutes, more than 20.000 connections average connection time of 15 USERS Hours 30 25 20 15 10 5 0 900 800 700 600 500 400 November '12 December January February March April May June July '13 RTK users by months 300 200 100 0 November '12 December January February March April May June July'13 RTK usage by Months in hours 8

Coverage of Kosovo territory with KOPOS services Locations of KOPOS use and state boundary determination 9

Benefits and advantages from usage of KOPOS system Continuous operation: (24 hours/7 days a week) Provides data at unique state coordinate system KOSOVAREF01 Is not influenced from eventual failure of one referent station Offers positioning in real time with: accuracy, reliability and availability everywhere in the Republic of Kosovo Projects: Reconstruction of Cadastral Information, Building Cadastre, co-ordinate cadastre. Addres register (collecting data for each road in Kosova) KOPOS offers services free of charge until December 31, 2013 10

REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO Thank you for your attention! 11
