Other trees are budding and the bulbs are up. It s lovely, but weird. I won t even mention what has not occurred this winter. You know that one of my favorite topics is volunteering. I am so proud of how you all are jumping in to help. Sue Scott graciously volunteered to take over for Marianne Hendrickse as the Love Quilt Coordinator. We didn t even have to twist her arm! Thank you, Sue. And Maria has formed an education team to help with the classes. Others are taking home bags of fabric to cut into squares for love quilts. What a great group we are! Can you believe it, our quilt show is only fifteen months away? How many of you have sewn quilts for the show? If you haven t, it s time to get busy. And on that note I leave you with this SOS poem by Jacquie Scuitto: Where can I store more fabric? My sewing room shelves are crammed! There s no more space beneath my bed And the guest room closet is jammed. I have a friend with an attic Who would let me store some there, But such separation from my treasures Would be more than I could bear. Meanwhile there are three bags full From the big sale I went to today And I can't think where to put them -- Or what my dear husband will say! 1
By Maria O Haver LOVE QUILTS I need eight volunteers who would be willing to take home a shopping bag of fabric to be cut into 8 inch or 6 inch squares and then returned to me. There is no particular deadline, but if folks want a target, it would be nice to have them for the summer meetings when we make kits. I will have the bags at the meetings this week and would appreciate if I can hand them off to some volunteers! TAPS AND WOUNDED WARRIOR QUILTS By Stephanie Sanidas If you can donate a patriotic quilt for children attending TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) camp during Memorial Day weekend, quilts are needed by May 1, 2017. Adult Wounded Warrior quilts are always needed and appreciated at our local medical hospitals. If you only have time to make a quilt top, we can find a machine quilter to finish your project. Contact STEPHANIE SANIDAS for more information.
