Biography/History George Fremont Price Wanger was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, on May 1, 1863 to George Wanger and Rebecca Price. Wanger married Mary Ada Grubb in 1887 and they had 9 children. He passed away on March 7, 1938 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Wanger worked as an Assistant Postmaster and was also an author, historian, and genealogist. He extensively researched his family lineage, publishing The Grubb Families of America: Military Service in 1914 and A Genealogy of the Descendants of Rev. Jacob Price, Evangelist, Pioneer in 1926. Scope and Contents The bulk of this collection is comprised of research notes and materials collected by Wanger while compiling his family genealogy, as well as some original family documents collected by him. Materials from the Price Family Association and relating to Wanger's research on Norristown churches and cemeteries are also included in this collection The genealogical research notes are extensive, and include a manuscript of the Wanger family genealogy. There is also a series of research notes on land ownership with some original land deeds, organized by area. Wanger collected a few original family records, such as marriage and birth records (including one beautifully illuminated Fraktur/taufschein). There is a scrapbook of early Wanger family documents, a scrapbook on local history, and scrapbooks on Kulp, Latshaw, and Shinkle families' geneaologies. The collection includes some Price Family Association materials. Wanger's mother was a Price, and he was very involved in the association. Wanger's research on Norristown church and cemeteries, and research notes and abstracts for family research with correspondence (1907-1937), are also part of the collection. A small amount of Wanger's personal correspondence, 1910-1933, rounds out the collection. Administrative Information Historical Society of Montgomery County - Page 4 -
