NAWCA S $33,459,570 $105,130,448 92 160,109 NAWCA GRANT AMOUNT TOTAL PARTNER CONTRIBUTION NUMBER OF S TOTAL ACRES Wisconsin currently has 92 NAWCA projects either completed or underway. These projects have conserved a total of 160,109 acres of wildlife habitat. NAWCA funding of over $33.4 million stimulated partner contributions of more than $105.1 million. These figures do not include multistate projects. MUKWONAGO - FOX RER FOCUS II Proposal objectives are to protect, restore, and enhance 2,435 acres of critical wetland, riparian habitat and adjacent uplands within the Mukwonago and Fox River watersheds to ensure long-term conservation of these ecosystems. Conservation efforts will target crucial breeding and migration habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, colonial waterbirds, and migratory songbirds. The project goal is to protect 1,898 acres including 1,581 acres of wetlands and 317 acres of associated upland river frontage. The project will restore 86 acres and enhance another 451 acres of wetlands and associated uplands. Protection, restoration, and enhancement of these lands will directly benefit wetland and grassland species to include: breeding habitat for multiple species of puddle ducks; foraging, nesting, and migratory stop-over habitat for many species of shorebirds, waterfowl, and waterbirds. The project also will provide potential breeding and migration habitat for endangered whooping cranes.
