Technical Information TI 066R/09/en Part No. 51000855 Temperature Transmitters TMT 136, TMT 137 For Pt100 Resistance Thermometers 2-wire head transmitter Standard- and instrinsically safe versions Head mounting (DIN B) Application The TMT 136 and TMT 137 are designed as head mounting transmitters for Pt100 resistance thermometers. The Pt100 resistance input signal is converted by the 2-wire transmitter into a 4...20 ma current output (live zero), linear to temperature. The power supply and output signals are connected on the same two wires. Features and Benefits Simple 2-wire connection Adjustable range for TMT 136, the zero and the span are adjustable with potentiometers Plug and play for TMT 137 High accuracy measurement High electromagnetic interference immunity Certificate: EEx ia IIC T4, T5, T6 version available
Measuring System Loop wiring example RTD thermometer Transmitter TMT 136 or TMT 137 Indicator Power supply 1 2 3 5 4 - + - U In addition to the TMT 136 or TMT 137 transmitter, a complete system consists of: a Pt100 3-wire temperature sensor to be connected to the transmitter input circuit; the transmitter may be also connected to a Pt100 2-wire sensor a power supply a receiver (indicator, recorder) Measurement Principle The Pt100 resistance thermometer is supplied with a constant current (1 ma) by the transmitter. In the voltage amplifier the input voltage signal is compared with the internal reference voltage. This difference is amplified and linearised before the conversion into 4...20 ma current by the output stage. The output stage incorporates an electronic current limitation circuit. All versions can operate correctly with reversed polarity. Intrinsically Safe Versions TMT 136-Z or TMT 137-Z can be mounted in hazardous areas, see picture below. Installation The TMT 136 and TMT 137 transmitters are suitable for mounting in standard DIN 43729 form B thermometer heads. Endress+Hauser has a full range of heads and thermowells available to provide complete assemblies for process temperature measurement. The TMT 136 and TMT 137 transmitters can be installed in the following Endress+Hauser head models: TA20A, TA20B, TA20C, TA20D, TA20E, TA20F, TA20G, TA20U, TA20W and TA20X. Mounting example: Input wires from sensor Spring Mounting support Locking washer Screw Thermometer inset For temperature local visualisation, the TMT 136 and TMT 137 transmitters can be mounted into the TA20U head with integrated LC display. The TA20U model is also approved for intrinsically safe application. TA20U terminal head with built-in transmitter The head transmitters TMT 136 and TMT 137 can also be mounted separately from the process in the field housing TAF 10. It is constructed from diecast aluminium, protection class IP66. The housing can be wall mounted or fitted on a pipe. Field housing TAF 10
