Forming Long Parts. The MULTIBEND 9002 CNC The CNC is the center of the intelligence of the XXL-Center. It drives all of the actions with unheard of speed and accuracy. Programming with the superior RAS CADalyzer software is so simple that all you need is to enter angles and flange dimensions for each bend. If what you see on the screen is what you want you simply press the START button and the forming process is started. The CADalyzer software offers maximum ease of use: Graphical input of the angles for up or down bends and the flange dimension. On-screen simulation of the entire bending sequence or a single bend for visual collision checks. That's all! So simple. So easy to use. So quick. Just press START and there you go! The CADalyzer also allows: Programmable open or closed hemming dimensions. Thickness based springback compensation by using technology tables. Material based springback compensation for the entire program or a single line. Composition of an order sequence in a job list. Number of parts being produced of the selected profile. The XXL-Center: Long on L The two folding beams bend the part up and down. Upper and the Lower Folding Beam A masterpiece of engineering brilliance, the folding beams were designed to rotate during bending by only a few millimeters, and to roll away with the workpiece in a 3D motion. This motion insures that material surfaces will not be scratched. Depending on whether a part needs to be bent up or down, the active folding beam moves forward to the material, while the counter folding beam retracts to its home position. The free space created by this functionality provides part design capabilities never before seen on a metal folder. Powerful motors ensure the strength and speed required for high production volumes. The 3D-folding beam motion assures scratch-free bending of even sensitive materials. The CAD designed and Finite-Element optimized folding beams offer a strength of more than 1000 N/mm2 (145,000 psi), and are dimensioned to resist highest loads. The folding beams are supported every 270 mm/10.63", two to three times more than on other designs. This design assures perfectly straight bends everytime. You can always expect more from RAS! A free space of up to 300 degrees allows the production of the most complicated profiles.
ength complete in Detail! The Drive System Concept This XXL-Center uses no hydraulics. Instead, regulated and brushless AC-motors bring power and speed to the entire system. Forget about oil leaks, uneven clamping, hems that are not consistent along their length or even over stressed machine components. All motors are placed at the center of the machine. This assures optimum flow of forces to the very end of the machine bed. The drive concept is responsible for the exact parallel motion of all beams, guaranteeing extremely straight bends and programmable hemming dimensions, where the hems are closed to the same height along the complete length of the part. Programmable hemming dimension. Upper and the Lower Clamping Beam Tools with an extremely high tensile strength and with a 1.5 mm/0.06" radius are built into the upper and lower clamping beam. If they show wear after intensive use, they can easily be replaced. The XXL-Center bends all materials and all material thicknesses with this inside radius plus the material springback. The right and left end of the machine extends past the power unit by only 215mm/ 8.465". This minimum length demonstrates RAS' efforts to offer a superior rigid system. Changeable tool built with an extremely high tensile strengh and a 1.5 mm (0.06 ) radius. The Power Units On conventional long folders the upper and lower beams are just bolted with a single connection of to each frame. The RAS XXL-Center does this connection with a special companion joint in two locations for the upper and in two for the lower beam on each extremely wide and heavy power unit. These Connects assure the best flow of force, this reflects in perfect bends. And as the special joints add extra stiffness up to the very front nose of the tools you won't believe how this effects the quality and precision of parts produced!
Loading Support Tables The high quality, stainless steel loading support tables are an integral part of the XXL-Center's sophisticated ergonomics. To save time, the support tables come out of the machine to the dimension required for the actual part width. The operator then easily loads material onto these supports. Squaring is not necessary as the machine will do this automatically. As soon as the operator presses a foot pedal, the loading supports move the material into the machine and locate it against the squaring fingers. Stainless steel loading supports for easy material loading. Squaring Fingers The squaring fingers automatically pop-up from the work surface 200 mm/7.87" behind the bend line. Their funnel shape and 80 mm/3.15" height insure that even wavy blanks are easily squared. As the workpiece is squared, the feeding grippers are activated. Funnel shape squaring fingers push the material into the right position.
Feeding Grippers The feeding grippers hold the part during the entire bend cycle and position it automatically for each bend. For most parts the operator unloads only the finished workpiece. Only on parts with hems on both sides does the operator flip the workpiece once during the bend cycle. Even then, rotating the part is not required. The feeding grippers can clamp on straight material, but can also clamp above a pre-bent hem or a closed hem. Each gripper unit sits on a separate guiding system with high precision linear guides. This guarantees precision and accurate flange dimensions and a high speed, dynamic drive characteristic. Grippers clamp and position the parts during the bend cycle. The feeding grippers clamp the part in different situations. Parts with hems on both sides require a flip once within the bend cycle.
