Registration Deadline: July 15 Entries Received: Friday, July 20 7:00 9:00 pm and Saturday, July 21 9:00-10:30 am Judging Day: Saturday, July 21 Entries Released: Sunday, July 22, Noon to 2:00 pm RULES 1. Refer to General Rules. 2. Each exhibit to consist of one article that can only be judged in one (1) class. 3. All clothing must be laundered and ironed. All clothing must be entered on hangers with metal hooks. 4. The exhibitor must have made all articles of clothing since the close last year s Fair. 5. Quilts must have been made between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2018 and may not have been entered before in the Kimberton Community Fair. 6. All wall hangings and hanging pictures must have wire, cord or hooks for hanging. Framing will be used as criteria in judging hanging pictures. JUDGING CRITERIA 1. Each quilter should choose the category that best fits the quilt being entered; however, the Kimberton Fair reserves the right to re-categorize any entry deemed inappropriate to the category for which it is entered. If the exhibitor already has an entry in the re-categorized class, then the inappropriate entry will be disqualified from competition. 3. Quilts must have been made between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2018, and must not have been entered before in the Kimberton Community Fair. 4. Quilted Accessory items for Classes 23-26 must have been made since the last Fair. 5. Judges may award an Honorable Mention at their discretion. 6. The 1 st place winners from Classes 13-22 will be eligible for the Best of Show Open Class Quilting Award which will be a Rosette Ribbon. CLASS $20 18 16 14 13 Pieced Pieced blocks and designs, from commercially available patterns and books, or patterns available in the public domain. Quilts may be done by hand or machine. 14 Appliqué One layer of fabric is cut out and sewn, embroidered or otherwise attached onto another layer of fabric, including rawedge, fusible, needle-turn, etc. Quilts may be done by hand or machine. 15 Mixed Techniques Quilts that are any combination of pieced and appliqué. Quilts may be done by hand or machine. 16 Paper/Foundation Piecing Quilts that have been created by sewing the fabric onto a foundation, either paper or fabric. 17 Baby Quilts Any quilt made specifically for use in a cradle, crib, or baby bed. Baby quilts may be made using any technique. 18 Wall Quilts Quilts of any technique, with measurements not to exceed 48 on any side, and total measurements not to exceed 192 total. Round quilts should not exceed 48 in diameter. Wall quilts may be made using any technique. 19 Team or Group Quilts Quilts of any technique, made by two or more people. Quilts professionally machine quilted by someone other than the person who pieced the top fall into this category. 20 Original Innovative/Art Quilts - Innovative design brings something new to quiltmaking such as an idea or method, use of fabrics, embellishments or surface designs. To be original, the quilt design must be totally new, never done before. 21 Miniature Quilts A miniature is a scaled down version of a full size quilt or quilt pattern, not simply a small quilt. All of the various quilt components - the overall design, quilting pattern, stitches, binding, embroidery or other surface techniques, or embellishments also need to be reduced in scale. 22 Miscellaneous - Any quilt that does not fit into the above categories including embroidery, cross-stitch, wholecloth, tied, crazy quilts, etc. Kimberton Community Fair 2018 7 Dept. 018 Sewing, Needlecraft, Quilts, Rugs
