Accelerated Reader is a reading scheme designed to help you improve your reading, concentration and comprehension. How does it work? You will take a STAR Test, which is an online test that looks at your current reading ability. The STAR Test generates an individual book level, reading age and a test score. The book level is a range of levels that you will be able to read in and be challenged in your reading. What do I do? Firstly, your teacher or librarian will give you your book levels. Pick a book to read that within your levels. Remember to look at the cover, blurb and genre when choosing. Read the book. You should be reading for at least half an hour every day as part of school and home work. As soon as you have finished the book, log on and take the Accelerated Reader. You can quiz in reading lessons, at break time, lunch time and after school. Write down your quiz score in your booklet. You should be getting 80% or above. Ask your teacher for a comment on your progress. Pick a new book, and start again! 2 The Accelerated Reader website: https://ukhosted44.renlearn.co.uk/1895516/ Use this to: Take a STAR Test (only when told by your teacher.) after reading a book at school and home.
