Tailwind 300 specifications. Connect to virtually any cabin management system using industry-standard interfaces. Command and control interfaces on the Rockwell Collins Tailwind 300 system use the standard RS-485 bus, and video output utilizes NTSC format. TMU 1 2 ACU 3 IMU 4 RDU 5 Monitors IRS 1 The Tail Mounted Unit (TMU) mounts on the tail and receives TV signals utilizing LHCP or RHCP circular polarization even at high velocities and at all flyable altitudes. 2 The antenna aligns with an orbiting satellite by acquiring position and altitude information from the connected third party Inertial Reference System (IRS) through the Antenna Control Unit (ACU). 3 After signal acquisitions, the information is processed and translated into Intermediate Frequency (IF) signals. 4 Decoded signals then travel to the IF Multiplexer Unit (IMU), which manages up to four Receiver Decoder Units (RDUs). Each RDU has two built-in outputs. 5 From the RDU, the signal travels through the aircraft s audio-video system and is ready for cabin broadcast. Viewers can watch programming from up to eight separate TV outputs, allowing access to over 130 channels; controlled from a touch-screen infrared or RF remote.
