Guide to Completing your Online Tier 4 Visa Application (Overseas) Now that you have been issued with a CAS for the University of Bradford, you are ready to make a visa application. Follow the steps below to guide you through making the application. Remember that you can contact us at any time at visasupport@bradford.ac.uk if you need some help. 1. Go to https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa/apply and click on apply online link. Click on the type of visa you will be applying for and click Next. 2. You will then need to select your location by country and click next.

3. You will then be given the opportunity to attend an appointment at one of the visa application centres within the chosen country. 4. You are now ready to start completing your visa application. You must complete the application form accurately and honestly. Please note that you cannot add family members to this application and you must complete a separate form for your family (dependants). 5. You will be required to enter an email address and password so you can save your answers, you will then be emailed a unique link so you will be able to log into your application at a later point. Please note your password will need to be 8 characters long and include a letter and a number or symbol. 6. You will need to ensure that you have the following documents to refer to while completing the application form: i. Your CAS Statement. ii. Your offer letter. iii. Your passport/travel document. iv. Previous visas and travel details. v. Details of the main address and contact details where you will be staying while in the United Kingdom. vi. Your national identity card.

7. You will need to add your name as it is shown exactly in your passport or travel document, you will also need the details if you have been known by another name. This includes your maiden name and other names you have used in the past. 8. You will need to add your CAS number exactly as stated on your CAS letter from the University of Bradford 9. You will need the full details of your home address, which includes the town/city, province/state, postal code (if applicable) and country. You will also need your telephone number. 10. You will be required to add how long you have lived at your current address and the ownership status of your home. 11. The next sections you will need the details from your passport which include your gender, country of nationality, country of birth, place of birth and your date of birth.

12. You will also need to complete your passport number or travel reference number, place of issue, issue date and expiry date. The passport you use must be valid and have at least 6 months left on the date of application. If you update your passport please email visasupport@bradford.ac.uk as we will need to ensure the details on the CAS match the passport you intend to use. You may also need the details of your previous passport or travel documents. 13. You will be asked if you have a national identity card. 14. You will need to add what permission you have to be in the country you are currently resident, if you are applying from outside your home country and have a temporary visa to be in that country you will need to add the details of this visa.

15. You will need to add the dates you plan on arriving in the UK, please note that you can arrive in the UK up to 1 month before your course start date. We advise that you plan to arrive 2-3 days prior to your course start date as stated on your CAS letter. You will also need to state how long you plan to stay in the UK. 16. The UKVI may need to talk to you about your application and you should state which language you prefer to use. The choice of language cannot be guaranteed. You may be required to speak in English depending on the requirements of your visa. 17. The next sections on the application are about English Language and you will be required to refer to your CAS letter as we will state how we have assessed your English Language, this could include your English Language qualification.

18. The next sections ask about your dependant s status, this includes if anyone relies on you for financial support, including children under 18, older relatives who need accommodation or other support. 19. You will need your dependants passport if you have answered yes to the question above and will be asked for the family names, date of birth, whether this person lives with you and if they will be travelling with you to the UK. You will also need to provide details of your parents. 20. You will need to add details of whether you have any family in the UK. If you answer yes, you will need to provide their relationship to you, names and their country of nationality. You will also need to provide what permission they have to be in the UK. 21. The next sections ask if you will be travelling as part of a group and if you will be travelling with someone who is not your partner, spouse or dependant. You will need the details of group you are travelling with or the name, nationality and relationship of the person you will be travelling with. 22. You will need to provide details of where you will be staying in the UK, if you are staying with friends or relatives, you will need to provide their full name and the address of where you will be staying. If your accommodation is not yet confirmed we advise that you put the University of Bradford Name and Address: University of Bradford, Richmond Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD7 1DP

23. You will need to provide the details of your previous visits to the UK in the last 10 years including the reason for visiting and should refer to flight details, previous visas and entry and exit stamps in your passport to provide the dates of travel. 24. If you have applied for leave to remain in the UK in the past 10 years you will need to provide details of the application and whether the visa application was successful. 25. You will be asked if you have a national insurance number, this is used in the UK for tax purposes and national insurance. If you have not been to the UK before then you will not have this. If you have been in the UK, you may have applied for a national insurance number to allow you to work in the UK. You will need to provide the number and the reasons for getting the national insurance number. 26. The next section refers to travel outside of your home country to other countries including, Australia, USA, New Zealand and the Schengen area, you will need the reasons for your visit and the dates of travel. Please refer to your previous flight tickets, previous visas, entry and exit stamps to ensure that the dates are correct. You will need to add each visit in a separate section. 27. If you have applied for a UK visa before and received a visa refusal or visa curtailment you will need put the details in this section, you should refer to the reference number on the refusal/curtailment notice, the date and reasons for refusal and add these to the section asking for more details.

28. The next sections refer to convictions and other penalties, including penalties for driving offences, civil court judgements, war crimes, terrorist activities, terrorist organisations, terrorist views. You need to answer these questions honestly and provide dates and details should you answer yes to any section. 29. You will need details of previous employers should you have worked in the listed section. If you have undertaken any of work in this section you should provide details including dates, names of employers and type of work. 30. To complete this section you will need the details on your CAS including the sponsor license number. 31. You will need to confirm that you will be studying at a higher education institute.

32. You will also need to confirm the site your majority of study will take place. If you are studying at the School of Management, please use the main University of Bradford Address. 33. If you applied through UCAS you will need to provide your personal identification number which can be found on all UCAS correspondence and your offer letter. Please note that UCAS is for undergraduates only and does not apply to most postgraduate courses. If you do not know your UCAS number please contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk

34. You need to complete this section if you have applied for ATAS and received your ATAS certificate, you will be required to add your ATAS reference number. If you require ATAS this will be on your offer letter and stated on the CAS letter. 35. The next sections refer to tuition fees maintenance requirements and course details. If you are receiving sponsorship from an official sponsor then you should confirm that you prove this by providing the official letter of sponsorship.

36. If you are classed as self-funding you will need to complete this section depending on if the money is in your name or your parent s name. You will need to ensure that you have you original bank statements, letter of consent and your original birth certificate if using your parent s statements.

37. You need to complete the full tuition fee amount in this section and this can be found on your CAS letter. If you have paid more money towards your tuition fee as stated on your CAS letter then you will need to contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk, so we can update the information on the CAS letter.

38. You will need the details on your CAS to complete this section and you should copy the course title and start and end dates exactly as it is on your CAS letter. If you have any queries about your course end date then please contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk prior to submitting your application. 39. In the additional information section you can add further details to support your visa application; this may include details of financial documents, previous visa application, spellings, and previous study. If you are unsure if you should add anything please contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk. 40. You should check all your answers carefully and make any necessary changes to the application form. Please ensure that you check the CAS number carefully along with your passport details, course start dates, names and travel details. 41. Once you have checked your answers you will be taken to a document checklist and you must ensure that you have all the original documents as stated on the document checklist. You may also require a TB certificate as part of your application and you must ensure that this is added to the documents submitted. 42. You need to check the summary carefully and make any amendments prior to moving to the declaration section. You will need to complete the declaration and ensure that all the information provided is true and correct.

43. You will be directed to the International Health Surcharge (IHS) website where you will be need to pay the required amount Please note that this will be the last opportunity to change details in your application form and once you move to the IHS website your answers will be locked. 44. You will be asked about your current location and if you are applying within the UK, you will also be asked if you are applying to stay in the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey prior to proceeding to payment. 45. You will need to enter the course start date and the course end date as stated on the CAS and answer the additional questions. You should refer to the CAS is you are unsure about your NQF/RQF level.

46. You will then be directed to pay the International Health Surcharge, please check the summary carefully and if you think there is a discrepancy contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk. 47. Please ensure that you make a note of the IHS receipt number and that you keep any receipts that are emailed to you. 48. You will then be directed to the final stages of the application process, this will include booking the visa appointment for the submission of documents and paying for the application. Please ensure you keep receipts and the details of the application centre booking for your records. A 49. Alternative Collection Location code ACL code: 2HE962 The code must be entered into the Alternative Location field in the BRP collection page on the application form as shown in the screenshot below:

Select confirm location Make sure the University of Bradford address appears before you continue or it will default your choice back to a post office 50. You will then be provided with a printable document checklist which will confirm everything you will be required to take with you to the visa application centre, if you are unsure about anything on the checklist or feel like it has not asked you for a document, please contact visasupport@bradford.ac.uk. Depending on where you apply the procedures may be slightly different at each application centre, so please read all the documentation and instructions carefully.
