Description The AWB7127 is a highly linear, fully matched, power amplifier module designed for picocell, femtocell, and customer premises equipment (CPE) applications. Its high-power efficiency and low adjacent channel power levels meet the extremely demanding needs of small cell infrastructure architectures. Designed for LTE, WCDMA and HSDPA air interfaces operating in the 2.11 to 2.17 GHz band, the AWB7127 delivers up to +24.5 dbm of WCDMA (64 DPCH) power with an ACPR of -50 dbc. It operates from a convenient +4.2 V supply and provides 33 db of gain. The device is manufactured using an advanced InGaP HBT MMIC technology offering state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability, and ruggedness. The self-contained 7 mm x 7 mm x 1.3 mm surface-mount package incorporates RF matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency, and linearity in a 50 Ω system. A functional block diagram is shown in Figure 1. The pin configuration and package are shown in Figure 2. Electrical and Mechanical Specifications The absolute maximum ratings of the AWB7127 are provided in Table 2. Recommended operating conditions are specified in Table 3, and DC characteristics are shown in Table 4. Electrical specifications are provided in Table 5. There is no damage to device with only one parameter set at the limit and all other parameters set at or below their nominal value. ESD HANDLING: Although this device is designed to be as robust as possible, electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage this device. This device must be protected at all times from ESD when handling or transporting. Static charges may easily produce potentials of several kilovolts on the human body or equipment, which can discharge without detection. Evaluation Board Description The AWB7127 Evaluation Board is used to test the performance of the AWB7127 linear power amplifier. A schematic of a typical application circuit is shown in Figure 3. Shutdown Mode The power amplifier can be placed in a shutdown mode by applying logic low levels (see Operating Ranges table) to the VREF voltage. Package Dimensions The PCB layout footprint for the AWB7127 is shown in Figure 4. Typical part markings are noted in Figure 5. Package dimensions are shown in Figure 6, and tape and reel dimensions are provided in Figure 7. Package and Handling Information Since the device package is sensitive to moisture absorption, it is baked and vacuum packed before shipping. Instructions on the shipping container label regarding exposure to moisture after the container seal is broken must be followed. Otherwise, problems related to moisture absorption may occur when the part is subjected to high temperature during solder assembly. The AWB7127 is rated to Moisture Sensitivity Level 4 (MSL4) at 260 C. It can be used for lead or lead-free soldering. For additional information, refer to the Skyworks Application Note, Solder Reflow Information, document number 200164. Care must be taken when attaching this product, whether it is done manually or in a production solder reflow environment.
